I will throw yet another bomb, heard through the grapevine that they accepted a few teams that's never been there, and that a couple of these teams if are first year teams. Could be trying to make it simple for the local teams.

oh NOW you guys wanna bring this up...ole statman had this topic a few weeks back...anyways, instead of who is in, who ISNT in and who CANT play up? theoretically, if the slammers get in, i cant see them playing in their age bracket (or wanting to), but from what i heard you cant play up in 18's...so even if GCKA were allowed to go (dude, how'd you get jipped again...they must have the form letter ready to deliver once your application comes in like some insurance adjuster denying a surgery claim for a fragile, 60 year old man) you couldn't even play up....

regardless, this hurts teams with noteriety (sp?) and multiple teams per age division liek the heats, HOO, stingray, lasers of the world....so is compuware the next tourney to avoid next summer?

Statman, per their website, Slammers are playing up at 16u at Compuware.

If the 18u is a ASA qualifier, they have to take all and anyone who wants to play. you can't have it a invitational at the 18u by asa rules.

only hurting their own tourney by screwing top flight teams out of invites. If michigan has a fastpitch board the nightmare folks ought to issue a challenge to the locals to let them in. Madness I tell ya It's just madness.

According to ASA rules, if it is a regional qualifier, it is not an invitational. So 18 and under should be ok for all, up until drawing.

What is a good tournament as an alternative to compuware for teams to play that weekend, whatever weekend it is.

Compuware has declined over the past few years..... Stingrays has definitely become the tournament of choice .......

There were many D1 coaches at Compuware last year. It is still a must for future MAC caliber players as far as we are concerned.

i have to say that I had never been to compuware untill last year. I couldn't wait to go and had heard all about it. Well nice facility but they certainly don't allways pick teams based on their ability. We got up there and I was very dissapointed in the competition. I would have expected it to be alot better. We competed in the 12-U bracket . There was some good teams up there but the overall competition level was not good. I don't get why people care if they don't get in - maybe at the older age group it make a diff. but at the younger ones I would not was my time going back.

If the "brains" of the compuware tournament continue to pass on the better teams, the coaches will not go. I still cannot believe that the Nightmare was passed on! They have the top pitcher in Ohio, and with the returning players combined with the new blood on the team, they will be one of the best in the Midwest (if not the best). When coaches speak of who plays who, it doesn't help when a team with the track record of the Nightmare are eliminated. Bull on the "organization", you don't pass on a team like this. It is not like this team is a "low-life, class-less" group, they play the best fundamental softball around. There coaching staff is second to none. You will see these girls playing top college ball over the next several years.

This is my recomendation:

As OHIO teams lets just Boycott Compuware. The reason the college coaches go there is because they attracted Big Named Talent form the surrounding 4-5 states. If Ohio hosts a tournament the same weekend then The Ohio coaches will stay here in Ohio to watch the girls play! So the questions is this....

1. Who is willing to host the tournament and
2. Will the top Ohio teams fall in suit and play here in Ohio or still try to get into compuware.

I think this year everyone is going to be a little bit happier to know that ASA States are going to be that Same weekend as Compuware. So we still have a chance to have a GREAT tournament right here in OHIO!!!

While it still is a very good tournament, a few of the teams last year (14U) weren't very competitive. The 14U side was definitely weakened last year by the Slammers and Homer Hawks dropping out to attend the Hall of Fame Tournament in Oklahoma instead. That's two very tough teams to replace without lowering the bar a bit. Don't feel alone Nightmare our 12U team (moving up from 10U) was passed over last year after winning the USA/ASA National Championship the year before.
