I sent Mr Rich a letter about getting softball reinstated , he replied tonight that he spoke with several representatives during the olympics but he concluded by saying "it will be a tough sell" was glad to get back a personal reply ---hope hundreds or even thousands of emails were sent stating our hope that fastpitch is back in 2016 MD

"it will be a tough sell" doesn't exactly sound promising. Did he elaborate at all?

I just got one from Ron Radigonda too.
Ron's sounded less like a form letter. I'll be sure to send them another friendly email or letter in a few months.

Did anyone see the interview with the IOC president and Bob Costas? He said softball suffered from being "lumped in" with baseball and all the drug scandals it had dealt with. He also stated that many smaller countries consider softball to be the female version of baseball and not a sport on it's own. He mentioned the United States dominance and how the loss to Japan may have a silver lining. Let's hope for 2016.

As has been said about travel softabll in a slightly different context the game is played by one group(dd's/players) and controlled by a totally different group(adults/asa/ioc) and rarely do those groups see things the same way.

The way we have always presented it is...Softball and baseball is a game played by the kids and it is orchestrated and controlled by adults and adults do not like to loose to kids or other adults!

Sources say Coach Candrea resigned from USA softball yesterday and will now give clinics in Europe to help promote softball which is something he had refused to do before.

Hind sight however wish he would have done that earlier like Mendoza has been doing for several years....great picture with Mendoza and other players lining out 2016 with softballs from ESPN...it took a player not ASA or ISF to capture the attention of some people. Good job covering the story however ESPN does not even post the NPF scores however no one has ever complained to my knowledge to them about it.

I have not heard or seen anyone talking about the picture or the story yet.

Just an observation

Maybe someone should start a separate thread on the Mendoza story so it will get peoples attention....

I really think it is important for people to know Candrea is going to Europe to help promote the sport also which is something in the past he has refused to do.

Maybe Don Porter got to him during the games and ask him for help.
