WOW, Girl Crush has some negative feedback so stations are not playing it although it is a top 10 requested song?
If you were a station manager or program director and given that the radio stations in question are todays country would you sanction DJs that refused to play it?

LBT fears the same type of feedback that caused the breakup of Dixie Chicks...

Where do we go? What do you think...

This is just a case of misinterpreting lyrics, where as the Dixie Chicks popped off their mouths at just the wrong time with all that was going on at the time.

It's a song about her being jealous of the girl the man is with. But I see how it would be easy to take a different way.

No. If a particular DJ loses audience chances are they will be replaced.

If I were a station manager or producer I would not fire the woman in question but may put her in an air time that would not impact advertizing… If it was a station directive I would question if we were in the right format..

This situation is different than the 2003 Dixie Chicks but watch the "shut up and sing documentary" and listen to what their managers are telling them… I think this could impact a career in 2015 just like it did for the Dixie Chicks.

I like what Natalie said at the end of the movie, If they were Bob Dillon, Bruce Springsteen they would have been looked at differently. I dont think so but who knows.

Country radio is not pop or rock and yes, I think LBT and others can fall victim to the same black balling as the Dixie Chicks….Time will tell...

Crystlemc, LBT and others have stated just because the song was written by a gay female does not mean they promote that lifestyle in the song as they have recorded it is neutral .

I agree, we have many that are hypocrites and interpret what they want to see in song.
I kind of find it laughable when you read critics or program directors opinions on one subject/song and then these same people play music about adultery, drinking, smoking and womanizing but heck thats country music!

Song writers like D.A.C. He is still is singing/writing music to the masses (but not on radio) there is no misunderstanding his message..

If it's Country, I'll never hear it. Therefore I'm not bothered by it one bit.

This song has nothing to do with a lifestyle. It's about a girl who wants to be like another girl to get the man. People are so crazy with hating lifestyles anymore. I always tell people to stay in your lane and focus in yourself. Once you are perfect, feel free to put everyone else down, but not until you are perfect first.

Maybe. But if the dixie chicks and little big town are whats considered country....Teeth wouldent be all that important to me. I think DAC said it best.... I would rather hear a fat girl fart than a pretty boy sing

I thought Hank III said it pretty well also when he said "Pop country sucks", but now you can drop the country part of that because its all just POP. There is no POP in country!
