lol! Surprise... there's a lot more going on in a college athlete's life than just sports. Not too many 12u players are studying for a final exam on a bus to a game. Guaranteed I'll see a fair share of the younger kids at Stingrays this July making the SAME mistakes their peers from 8 or so years ago made. They don't throw any harder, run any faster, or swing the bat any faster. BUT - due to the hotter bats, the kids who have worked diligently on their hitting will be able to hit the ball harder and farther, because the bat exit velocity is somewhat greater. Pitching has really not changed at all, especially at 12u to 14u. The gap widens somewhat starting at 16u when the girls get a little meat on their bones.
What's interesting is to pick a 10u or 12u "superstar" and see where they are in 6 years at 18u. There will be hundreds of "potential" 12u future DI college players at Stingrays this year - but I challenge anyone to pick them!
