Anyone have any SWO HS to promote for state. I know there is LOADS of great pitching in area, but not sure what HS they represent.

Tipp City should be good with Locker throwing.

I also like the Pittsenbarger girl from Urbana.

I would say Lebanon has the best chance from the GWOC to go far because of Campbell and all the experienced players around her. There are teams like Fairborn, Fairmont, Northmont, and Wayne that will give Lebanon all they got with many close games. From last year I saw Glen Estes team play and there offense and pitching is very good and i think most of there players are returning, but I’m not sure just looking at the conference website. And from the GMC from looking at the numbers from last year Lakota west will be up there.

Division 2
Urbana’s pitching will be awesome with Pittsenbarger and Greenville will be the one to beat with Fisherback from what I’ve seen probably one of the top pitchers in the state.

Pittsenbarger is a great example of the pitching that gets undervalued in ohio............ saw her a few times.... and more impressed every time i see her

For the record, I had a chance to hit off Jordyn (Fisherback) this winter. There were many around that said I wouldn't put the ball in play. The bet was I had one at bat. I swung a pretty mean stick in my younger days. Well, my friends, I am a winner with a shot on a full count pitch. People will try to tell you it was a little blooper over the pitcher's head but it was inside and you can't tell trajectory too well. I would say it probably would have cleared the the centerfielder if I had to guess.

Even with all of the tremendous success I had against her, I will say she is one of the best I've seen. Legit high 60s with movement. If Greenville can generate some offense this year they should be there in the end. That was their Achilles heal last year. She pitched 17 scoreless innings vs. Glen Este last year AND lost (I think the Glen Este pitcher pitch 17 scoreless also, not sure). Regardless, they need some more offense this year.

Greenville has never been a powerhouse at the plate, they prefer to pitch well and play great defense. The team that won the D2 title a few years ago was an average team at the plate but played awsome defense which seems to be a Newland trademark.

They do have some great young talent that got well sesoned last year, it should make them much better this year for that run at a 5th straight Regional apperance.

She can hit a ball too.

Parma, thats too bad. One of your players was on the team as well, believe she was the catcher, only a freshman, and she loved to play for him. Its a shame that some people have nothing better to do than screw up what appears to be a good thing. Hope he gets a job somewhere else, seems to "get it".

Tippecanoe missed playing for the State title on an error.
With Locker and Alvarez pitching they will go deep. Pretty potent offense and a great "D". They lost only 1 player from last year "England" but will have a good replacement I am sure.

Go Tipp !!

Not sure what Elyria will be like post-Sito, but they do have a bundle of talent.

Some very good talent in NE Ohio, including Hudson, Jackson, Perry, Boardman. Probably some others as well that I am not thinking of?? .... Perry is the team I would really watch out for, great pitching at least 2-deep, and some big sticks. Jackson will be strong, and Boardman has a lot of experience coming back, and a tough pitcher. Hudson will just show up and try to play with the big girls, and hopefully not et hurt too bad ... :D

Copley will be tough ... DII?

Poland will be tough .... not sure division.

Looking forward to the season!

England was a Junior last year, but tore Medial meniscus (spelling ?) in her knee and has not been the same since.

Knee hurts after running or jogging. Plus, she wants to work and save some cash. $$$ :D

Should be very interesting with Greenville and Tipp this year in our region, looks like they will have to go through each other at some point in the tournement.

Gotta love recruitment lol

No recruitment here, there was a young lady who lived in Greenville and was attending Troy Christian and this year she decided to go to the local school. She is an outstanding young lady with awesome athletic ability and she will be a huge asset at the plate and can play anywhere on the field (except pitcher) at an all-state level.

IMHO...This years team has more offensive firepower then any of the teams that coach Newland has had so far.

In the southern part of the state

I think Felicity Franklin in division IV or III should be a contender.
Glen Este in Division I
Tipp City, Ross and Greenville is going to be a battle in II

As the season battles go on with players dropping with injuries etc we will get a better idea of who the contenders are.

I would like to think Colerain in D1 will be back since they have a lot returning and a solid offense but; I do not see enough pitching.

Ross may have a decent shot to do some damage with their ACE returning. Lost some key position players and offense but knowing Coach Fern he'll figure it out. Will be fun to watch them in FAVC again.

The winner will come from the Center of the State for D-1 .... UA or Grove City..... if Elyria doesn't have another one as good as Tess in the wings, they won't be in the final 4.

UA and Grove City will be tough but I wouldnt count out Gahanna Lincoln with 6 starters returning including top 2 pitchers and an all state catcher from a great season a year ago which ended in district championship game lost to Pickerington Central who I believe has 6-7 starters back as well.

All interesting and good comments. You have to throw Twinsburg in the mix in D1. Beat by Hudon 1-0 and 5-3 in the Regionals last year. Strong Freshman class coming in to add to the highly talented junior class already in place. 2 time NOC player of the year pitcher along with 3 other D1 recruits. They will be tough.
