I believe it is $50/sport, regardless of sport in SE Indiana....some sports do more with warmups, shoes, etc. but they do a great job of offsetting those costs with fundraisers.

My daughters school held a meeting the other night to address the school sliding into FISCAL EMERGENCY and decided to hit the spring sport kids with 250 bucks to play this year(figures as my daughters only sport now is S Ball) while the rest of the sports,fall and winter got a pass.they said if the levy this May fails they will up the pay to play to as much as 800 bucks next year.

Most Ohio schools start there fiscal year in Aug. Therefore it would be wrong for them to start pay per play in the middle of the school year and more than likely against the law. I would check with a lawyer to find out

Don't ya just love when the first place people look for money is the parents not within the system itself. Wish I could run my business this way!

Volleybal = $18,300 / S#cc#r = $19,000 / Basketball = $26,000 / Wrestling = $26,500 / Hockey = $13,500 / Cheerleading = $10,900 / Swimming $18,000? / Track = $20,500 / Baseball = $17,800 / Softball = $16,500 / Tennis = $13,650 / AND THE BIG ONE FOOTBALL IS = $66,700

These are all per team cost divided by how many players on each team = cost per player.... Now you think you have it bad...

I hate to say it.....but if this were true of my dd's school, she wouldn't play high school, just travel!! ;& That is crazy. My dd pays $0 (well I did pay $62.00 for her shoes) for basketball and $0 (paid $100 for her new metal cleat Ringors )for softball.

I feel for those of you who have to shell out for both school and travel!

I am lucky too. No pay for play in our school district. This would be hard to swollow.

Both Middle School and High School fee is $25 per sport. Softball wasn't sanctioned in MS so we paid $135 per player to the league.

It is ridiculous how much schools are charging in other areas. Some seem so high that even upper middle class families would have a hard time paying it so their kids can play.

Colerain is $100 Pay to Play. After two sports or $200 max.
Band, Dance and some other club activities/sports are extra.

Hard to believe schools can get enough players to field a team or be competitive charging $600 to $1000 to play a HS sport.

My wife and I are thinking that if pay to play comes to our district, once it gets to a certain price level, the dd will likely go to strictly travel ball, since on a good team it's virtually a year-round activity in the first place.

Gee, as an aside, I wonder what the OHSAA will do should pay to play fees become so onerous, most high schools will be forced to cut back to just a few sports because of a lack of participation? The word is in our district, the school will be cutting back the number of sports in the near future as well as cutting freshman teams, etc.

For those of you that say you will play only travel - how will you do that? I would think that at least in the Columbus area, the quality players not playing high school bad are few and far between. Who would you play? Where would you play? Don't see too many 16u tourneys in April and May......................

This could be the perfect reason to begin April/May tournaments. And girls playing strictly travel ball. Pay to play gets higher than travel ball costs, why not start your travel season when the 10 & 12U's start.
