Too bad that the afternoon's games got cancelled for weather.
Saw from the box scores today that Central Crossing did not pitch their #1 against Elyria. Looks like they were intending to use her for the Poland match-up. A real shame that game got canceled.
I made a comment something like this about hoover using their #1 against keystone or not. and the reply with quote came back, as if the use of a pitcher should not effect how good a team was and to stop using excuses. But, we all know that a #1 can make a marked difference in a team's showing.Saw from the box scores today that Central Crossing did not pitch their #1 against Elyria. @woolfman:
Yes, I thought long about posting my comment, because I thought I would get responses along the line that you described (and I believe that is the gist of some of the responses to my comment).
I have no connection to Central Crossing (in fact, some of our Buckeye Heat 95 players are on HS teams that meet against CC either in league or the state tournament, and we root against CC in those cases), but I do have high respect for this team and its coach.
Some could call pointing out the pitcher used in a loss as an excuse, but I have no standing or motive to make an excuse for a team that I often root against. Like you, woolfman, I think that who pitches in a game, especially with a pitcher like the #1 for CC, makes a difference. Note that I am not saying CC would have won with their #1. But I think that was a possibility and I think it was a probability that Elyria would not have racked up the runs that it did in the actual game.
Oh ok....Makes perfect sense now.
