Sounds like a planned play.
Now I'm not sure if I remember this correctly even from yesterday so anyone else who was there correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the bases were loaded?? And this girl came trotting in from third thinking the batter was walked as well but it was a live ball with a called strike three and eveyone, parents and coaches were yelling creating more confusion and Bigtrain managed to get his player to hear him and tag home so the ump could see it. Certainly an A+ game for unexpected twists and turns.

We too had a parent get caught up in the heat of the moment and got a bit carried away...of course we pulled the parent to the side and got them out of the area quickly but the team is left with the after affects.......it happens ,,,it shouldn't but it does.....does not make them a bad person or us a bad organization.....just something to watch for and work on a bit harder in the future.

I saw the play in question. It was a soft floater on a check swing foul ball from a left-handed batter. Not hard hit but not much "air" under it either. Ball was defeinitley in play and 3B coach defintely was not protecting himself and could have easily gotten out of the way. That said, I am not sure if the 3B could have made the catch.

It was a great game and I would have hated to see the final out be on that call.

Definitely a bad decision by the 3B coach to catch the ball but the far worse decision was his team's fans berating of the other coach for appealing, and some even storming the opposing dugout to shout insults and having to be escorted away following his appeal.

That could have gotten ugly (or should I say uglier?).
You're kidding about the fans?

anotherdad, posted it correctly. In hidesight i'm guessing the 3b coach did it without thinking. The appeal process got out of hand , parents and coaches is this what we are teaching kids how to act?
amen!

C'mon hockeyebuckeye... Too funny. You are actually trying to give your boy bigtrain credit for this stroke of luck?

Bases were loaded and the kid simply jogged home by mistake thinking it was ball four. No "sneaky play". No coaching "genious". Just plain old dumb luck. The fortunate part for the Slammers was she ran all of the way to the plate and had touched it prior to anyone realizing what was going on.

Will agree, it was just one of many twists and turns in a wild game.
