Here is a link to the HS pitching distance press release: Click here

Ohio is following the Mandatory guideline and not implementing it earlier according to the OHSAA website.

NFHS Announces Pitching Distance Rule Change
July 23 - The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has announced a change to the pitching distance in softball beginning with the 2010-11 school year. The OHSAA will implement this new pitching distance during the 2010-11 school year, not sooner. To read about this and other rule changes, click here.

But remember that the metal cleat rule for the summer season is still up to the facilities if they will allow them or not. Keep 2 sets. We had umps that didn't know the rules last year. Played 3 games in metal, 4th game ump made us switch to plastic.

On the ASA website under the umpires tab is a table that lists the differences between ASA and NFHS (which OHSAA follows) rules.
