Sneakin' in a few minutes from the hotel lobby-
10U -A ? ?Wild Thangs are doing great (my organization) ?undefeated in pool play ?Beat Cinci Doom 6 or 7 -0 , Beat the Louisville Lady Sluggers (who came in with 50 some wins and 6 loses ) in a tough intense 5-3 game. ?Beat Ohio Wave today something like 12-6 . Play Lady Sluggers again to reach the finals of the winners bracket in about an hour.

12u -B , my DD's bunch the Wild Thangs are also doing well, ?went 2-0 in pool play wins over K ank K Diamond (Ind. team) 11-0 and Cinci Doom 5-1 . ? Beat Bustos Ultimates in 1st round of tourney play 8-2 or something close to that. ? So we are 3-0 at this point .
Other Scioto Co team the 12u Scioto Storm are doing pretty well--I think 2--1 at this point . ?

12u A --Only saw 2 teams play Ohio Wave beat K C Diamond 10-0 ?and Kc Diamond also lost 5-3 to someone. (KC Diamond is from Ashland Ky.) They should be playing B Ball but somehow ended up in A. They are a 1st
year team with lots of 11's. ?Ohio Wave 12 looked good.

Games were cut short on friday pm due to rain (55min) --- when we got there on friday PM there had to be 50 people in line at the concession stand . ?:-[ ?If you are not going to allow coolers , at least be able to sell us something. ?No youth tees were available by friday pm either. ? ?But the games have been good. Pretty much seem to be on time today. ?thats all I got . MD

10U Wild thangs drop a close 7-6 game to the Louisville Ky Lady Sluggers. Got behind 7-1 but closed strong. Will have to come out of the losers bracket to earn a 3rd game with them. ? ?Scioto Storm 12u dropped their last game of the evening 5-4 to ??? can't remember. ?
12u A ---Louisville Lady Sluggers 12 KC Diamond Elite 1 or 0 ? Lady sluggers are strong ! Should be good game between Wave and them. MD

In the 12U "A" Bracket the Ohio Wave won the championship.

In the tournament portion of play they had wins over:

Kentucky Cobras 11-1

Louisville Sluggers 11-3

Louisville Sluggers 12-4 (Championship Game)

With only 10 players on the roster this weekend we had to work pretty hard especially with the 4 games on Saturday. We look forward to getting two of our regular starters back next weekend for the Toledo tournament.

Rich,

Do you think the 14-13 8 inning game the Sluggers and Cobras played that lasted over 2 and a half hours helped any?

Kysoftball I am not really sure that I get your point.

With regards to the Cobras vs Sluggers game, I am not really sure why a pool game would have had to go 2 1/2 hours. The games were 1 hour 20 minute time limits and I think that they could end in a tie. Why would there have been a need to play for 2 1/2 hours?

I think that both the Cobras and the Sluggers were two of the best teams that we have faced this season. Both deserve high marks.

I think that the Louisville Sluggers won both games that they played vs the Cobras but I made the comment to a number of people that I actualy thought that the Cobras team was the better of the two. While the score did not bear that out, I still feel that way. In any case we enjoyed playing both teams very much.

Rich --congrats ---wanted to say "Hi" but you were busy coaching your girls--and what a fine group you have ---one of those deals where you ask "is the 12u field " when your girls take the field !! To win that handly twice over a pretty atheletic slugger team like that is impressive. You beat them 11-3 and 12-4 and someone wants to know if it was because they were tired ???

Our girls , the Scioto Co Wild Thangs won the B division 12u finishing 6-0 on the weekend--I'll give a more full report tommorrow ---good night MD

Sorry Rich about not being clear, between Manitou dads post that reduced us to a team that won a close game over a team that should having been playing b and the one-sided loss we took from your team, it did not tell the whole story. After finishing the game with the Sluggers we walked straight up to the field and started the game with you guys. The Sluggers also played another game before playing you guys on Saturday night. That being said your team was very impressive....solid defense, aggressive hitting and a smart little pitcher, congrats on the win. I wish the best of luck to the KC Diamond Elite they stepped up to play some stronger competition and they will be better for it, from the couple games I saw in the B division,it wasn't where they belonged!!!!

Kysoftball thanks for the clarification. As you know from watching plenty of weekend softball we cannot control the schedule. Just show up and play the schedule that is put in front of you. We were the #3 seed after the pool round so I do not think that the tournament schedule was slanted in our favor. That was also our 3rd game of the day vs the Cobras and we had only finished 30 or 45 minutes before you guys I think.

In the case of the game vs the Sluggers on Saturday night at 9:30pm that was both teams 4th game of the day. I would say that we were all a little tired. By the way that game that the Sluggers had just won was a 4 inning blowout and a number of their starters did not play. In travel ball you have to be prepared for all sorts of scheduling issues. ?We also won that game with our #3 pitcher throwing a great game, and by the way we were without two of our top players for the entire weekend due to injury. That being said to aswer your question I do not feel that it was really that big of a deal. Both of the teams that we played had 3 extra players on the bench, we did not. I am pretty proud of our bunch.

Again let me be clear. I think that you guys have a very nice team. We have played some great competition this season and your team is in the top 3 or 4 teams that we have seen. Same for the Sluggers, but I made it clear that I think that your team was a better team then them. This is just my opinion, and it is just based on your performance vs our team. We would be happy to play against you guys in a tournament again this season. Win our lose I know it would be a great game for our players and that is what we are seeking.

Does anyone know who won the 14U "A" bracket?

14U "B" bracket-
The Cincy Storm Black 14U played very well this weekend and played 2nd in the tournament. We played the Indy Mustangs- a great group of girls. Their pitcher was one of the best that I've seen. Congrats to the players of the Cincy Storm Black team and to the coaches. :)

10u A Championship game was Louisville Lady Sluggers over the Scioto Co Wild Thangs 6-5 in extra innings . Was great to see girls get tested down at cinci. Those 2 tangled 3 times over the weekend with the scores being something like 6-4 WT's , 7-6 and 6-5 Sluggers. 2 very good teams.

12u B Scioto Co Wild Thangs over the So. Ohio Outlaws. We played a great semi final game with them in the winners bracket --a 2-1 7 inning game. very good ball from both sides. They battled back thru the losers bracket with wins over Scioto Storm and Bluegrass elite or Blaze (??) Was told the bluegrass game ended with the winning run scored in the last inning , bases loaded , on an illegal pitch call with the game being tied at that point . Bluegrass coach was ejected. Did'nt see it myself , don't know what happened. Wild Thangs over Doom in the other semi. Wild Thangs won the final 6 or 7 -4 after falling behind 2-0. Great Job girls !

Schedule was brutal at times. Our (wild thangs) 14's ended up after 2am on friday night, had to play early saturday . Think they had time to drive by the hotel . MD

All of the final brackets are now online at www.sluggerfest.com for this past weekends event.

I would like to thank all of the Friday night teams for their patience during our delay at Rivershore.
Competition was great and it was a joy to see our largest Slugger Fest I with so many 12U & 10U's participating!
