BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. – The Montreat Cavs started off a weekend filled with softball by sweeping the Bryan Lions on Friday.

In the front-end of the doubleheader, pitcher Cailin Warner (SO/Portland, OR) threw a seven-inning complete game for Montreat to lead them to a 7-3 victory at Roxy Hines Memorial Field. The righty allowed just four hits and no earned runs to earn her second AAC win of the week.

At the plate, catcher Alicia Gil (JR/Phoenix, AZ) deposited a 2-1 pitch into the leftfield cheap seats in the second inning. Her first home run of the year drove in Warner and gave the Cavs a 2-0 lead that they would add to as the game progressed. Leadoff hitter Mikki Shelton (SO/Old Fort, NC) also drove in two runs for the Cavaliers, hers coming via a fifth-inning double off the Lions (6-16, 3-3) that gave the Cavaliers a 7-0 lead.

In the second game, Montreat did all its damage in the first two frames as it took a 7-4 lead after two. Bryan later added two runs as Ashley Brown and Courtney Petty had RBIs in the fifth.

Relievers Josie Harris (SO/Asheville, NC) and Danyelle Joli (FR/Battle Ground, WA) combined for scoreless relief work out of the pen, with starter Allison Moody (SO/Belmont, NC) earning the win for Montreat. Cleanup hitter Abby Swilley (SO/Riceville, TN) had three hits and drove in two at the plate, while Aly Woody (SO/Marion, NC) was a perfect 4-4 at bat, driving in a run, and crossing the plate twice for Montreat.
