[Softball] Drovers Stay Perfect With Double-Header Sweep at OPSU

CHICKASHA, Okla. - The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma is the second ranked team in the NAIA and they've continued to show why as they swept their double-header against Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Okla. USAO improved their record to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in SAC play, while OPSU drops to 7-5 overall and 0-2 conference play. The Drovers won game one by a final score of 9-0, followed up by a 20-4 win in game two.

GAME 1

USAO was able to gain momentum early in game one as they scored 3 runs in the first inning. The Drovers extended the lead to 4-0 in the top of the second. In the fifth inning the Drovers were able to rally for 5 runs to put the game away for good.

Randa Hatter (JR/Stratford, Okla.) had a superb game, going 2-3 with 2 homeruns, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI's. Destinie Lookout (SR/Oklahoma City, OK) also went 2-3, while adding 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's. Kristen Prieto (JR/Moore, OK) finished game one 2-3 with 2 runs scores, and 1 RBI. Keely Kingsly (SR/Oklahoma City, OK), Karlie Velasco (SR/Del City, OK), Darci Chester (SO/Collinsville, OK), and Dakota Clouse (SR/Blancahard, OK) each recorded a hit in the win.

Summer Leitka (JR/Norman, OK) was lights-out in the circle, going all 5 innings, allowing zero runs on just 2 hits, and she struck out 3 batters to pick up her third win of the season.

GAME 2

The Drovers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Aggies would tie the game at the end of the second inning with 2 runs in each of the firts 2 innings. USAO then socred a whooping 12 runs in the third inning to extend the lead to 16-4, followed by two more runs in the fifth inning.

Karmyn Pearn (SO/Newcastle, OK) contibuted a 2-3 performance that included 2 runs scored and 3 runs batted in. Tarah Madron (JR/Konawa, OK), Randa Hatter, and Karlie Velasco concluded the game with 2 hits each. Keely Kingsly and Destinie Lookout each finished the blowout with 1 hit and 4 RBI's. Lookout blasted her second homer of the season. Alyson Clemence (SO/Washington, OK) turned in a 1-2 performance that included a double, 2 runs scored, and 1 RBI.

Falon Howell (SO/Duncan, OK) picked up the win as she pitched the first 1.1 innings of the game. Lyndie Ervin (FR/Washington, OK) pitched the final 3.2 innings, allowing no runs or hits, and she struck struck out 3 batters.

The Drovers and the Aggies will be back in action tomorrow (Feb. 16) when they play at 12 & 2 PM in Goodwell, Okla.
