Indoor Tournament spano dome this weekend

I'm always amazed at the amount of complaining about schedules, "indoor rules", etc. more so in this age group then any. My dd's have played in the spano for many years and in going you KNOW how the indoor tournament is. Even after the yearly complaining by folks it continues to grow in number each and every year.
Where else can you go even in the summer and play in a group of 20 or more teams in one tournment? (other then a national tourney)
Where else can you go and play in the dead of winter, or get a chance for your team to play before the high school break.
As for admission charges, which many tournaments especially the popular ones charge, they offer a weekend pass JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. I don't mind paying to watch alot of the competition for the season, or watching former teammates. These places have HUGE expenses to make these facilities available. Imagine your own personal utility bills then image what it would cost for a place of that size.
There is a choice if you don't like it.......don't go !

This group (14U) is on the brink of maturing. By 16U all you want to do is just watch your daughter play ball and most of the bull **** is cut out.
Most of these posters need to get a life. OFC is starting to be a social spot for people who like to see their names. They go back and forth on here all day long. Pick up the phone.
The Spano Dome is a great place and like RAM said don't go if you don't like it.
It is about the girls playing and getting better. So what if you have to deal with alittle dirt or mold. Most peoples house are dirter than the Spano dome.
Grow up!

From what I heard the out of state teams did not want to spend 2 nights in a hotel room. So they tried to accomodate them. Everyone was offered their money back if they did not want to attend. My opinion is put up or shut up. This is going to be a good test for everyone involved. Another poster was complaining about the number of innings, in the HS league that just finished up, most game went 4 to 6 innings in 50 minutes. The 70 min. time should be fine, unless you get a couple of teams with alot of walks and or runs being scored.

Well said! Everyone has a choice to go or not. We have played up there the last three years, yes it has been hectic at times and there have been long time spans between games but it sure beat sitting at home looking at the snow. This year we elected not to due to other committments but with the competition thats there I kinda wish we would've gotten into it. If teams didnt want to deal with the "hardships" of playing there then they wouldnt come back correct? But they do, because of the climate we live in and the lack of places to play.

I don't really care but before we post wrong info not all teams were offered money back I would believe only the ones that complained. My daughters team was not offered anything back. Personally I would rather cut out a game and play longer so it's all good with me.

Very true... if you do not like it, do not go.

However, unlike RAM who has been many times and knowingly puts up with this ****, not eveyone involved has "Spano" experience nor were they aware they were being jerked around when they signed up for their 4, I mean 3 games.

You people give this guy way too much credit. He is not doing anyone any favors. It is a business, plain and simple, and he is doing what he can to maximize his take during the only time of year his product is in demand.

Does anyone know if there is a weekend admission pass or do you have to pay daily? If so, what are the fees for each?

okay let me see if I have this right. $6 to get in to watch a 50 minute game. Does that make sense? The single elimination tourney is luck of the draw. You could play at 11am on Saturday and then you draw the 11pm game Saturday night. If the snow comes in that is suppose to come in what are the teams to do for 11 hours between games. Please. Think about the kids.

A little math

$10 per person for the weekend.
average of 11 girls on a team
28 teams
308 girls
2 parents per girl
616 paying people not including children
$6160 collected on admission of parents alone (average)
$9800 collected on entry fees
$15960 brought in with adult admission and entry fee alone. If they charge for students who knows how much you can add to this total. Wonder how much is profit for the spanodome.

I am not sure much thought was given to the girls playing time by having so many teams and to travel, weather and anything else ohio february weather throws at you

My dd (and i am sure there are some of yours) that will not enjoy sitting around for 6-10 hours waiting to play a game that will last 50 minutes

Ahhhh, yes.... but while you are enjoying the wait for your next 50 minute game, feel free to spend some more money at the concession stand.

will be interesting to see how people are able to move around. Not exactly much room to get out of the way . Might be like being on plane thats delayed on the runway. All thats not good . hopefully patience and good sense will rule . It may take unusually good attitudes to keep people from getting really really grumpy. MD

with all the complaining going on, maybe they won't have it next year.....

then everyone will be whining about not having a place to play.

It costs a forutne to light and heat this place, there has to be some money made.

and the cost of admission is for all day, so when someone says $6.00 to watch a fifty minute game, that is not totally acurate unless you leave right away and don't come back.
