$6 Admission $15 Weekend pass 10 and under free. Not horrible.
Observations from last night: There needs to be further classifications besides "A" and "B", there needs to be a "C", some good competition but some of these teams do not belong.
Slammers come at you full throttle and are relentless in their pressure, very well taught and schooled. You had to wonder if you were in PA with all their teams present, some very good looking teams at that, but at one point all of Spano was black and gold. The young Ice team will do very well this year, and will add that Bill is a class act. I know if outdoors, some scores would be different.

If the elimination round is a blind draw, then why wasn't it done as each coach came in for their game? Who is doing the blind draw?
I do have to say, the Spano Dome was packed last night. I imagine today will be the same way. Everyone was on there best behavior and seemed to be enjoying softball.

Some people never cease to amaze me. Its always about the money, and if you are charging a penny then you must be making a million. If they were making so much money off the dome and the spano brothers were getting so rich from it why are there not more around like it. Do you really think that in a free market such as ours that someone else would not have put one up to " Get Rich and Greedy". The post before was correct, what happened to thunderplex did the owner get rich quick and fold just to screw all of us softball parents? Did Field of dreams do the same? I am going to have to go with "NO". They keep the doors open at the dome by putting on these tournaments to pay the bills. If they made that much off the dome why would they have to run a construction business? Look at the money that got invested in the building such as the lights, dirt, and entrance way. Or do those things just come free. Thats why so many are going under is because no matter what you charge its always too much.
We sit on here and debate how much these tournaments in the dome are making and how its so unfair to us, but thanks to the spano brothers we are able to play indoors when its 14 below in February. Do you honestly think that they could not turn that building in to something else to make money? They could just as easily turn it over to baseball and easily kick us softballers out and baseball generally has a lot more money to throw around. So its not about the money, its about a sport that they love and doing what they can to give all of us teams an opportunity to improve. I would only imagine how many players have moved on to bigger things in this sport we love and owe most of their success to the Spano Dome. I know most of my girls do and countless Ice teams. If you think I am getting paid to be there "Think Again". I spend about 25 to 30 hours a weekend there helping out for the love of the sport.
So if you think that it costs way to much to come to Spano and play, then think of your player and what she gains from being able to play when most cant and how that helps her to progress in a sport she loves. We all bend over backwards for our kids and I am no different. I do not bash a good thing though. What it has done for my daughter could not be measured. Would you rather go to a movie for 30 dollars for 2 hours, or watch your daughter play the sport she loves (which IS why we do this) and many other games in the middle of winter for the entire weekend for that price?
The 14u tournament will be seeded by their pool play. I will be updating the website as to how they finish as they do. So watch it frequently after 2pm. I will be updating about every 60-90 minutes. And how many tournaments offer that? I can say "NONE" that I have attended.

DD has so far this year played at the G-Plex,Hall of Fame, The Sport Zone in Indianapolis and The Spano Dome. Her feelings and likes are that SHE would rather play at the Spano Dome.FR

I hate to say it like this but... There are two types of people - Those who work for someone else and those who don't. Some understand what it takes to keep the doors open and bills paid and some don't. That building is there all year long. Taxes & permits are paid on it for an entire year. Utilities ( lights - phones - heat - water ) are charged for for an entire year. Most of it's use is during the winter months - How does everything else get paid for when the building is not in use ?? You need to think like a business owner before you condemn them. Like GFOD & others - It takes a lot of cash flow to keep these things up & running - Just like any other business that doesn't rely on government bailouts or funding ;&
