Some of the new players we have added this year had the same experience as you with their previous teams concerning hidden charges for practice, fall vs summer events, or was promised exposure events but; played in local tournaments.

Our 16U fees last year ended up at $680. The players/Parents received itemized account statements so they knew when monies needed to be paid and what for.
Our players received home and away jerseys shorts and pants, batting helmet, practice T and shorts. 14 tournaments = 60+ games, insurance, web hosting for stats/profile and marketing set up, softball school information including ACT information, NFCA camp info and additional college camp/ scholarship information, outdoor and indoor practice facilities, friendly's, discounts on MIKEN equipment, and of course top notch instruction.
We also provided fundraiser opportunities to offset travel and team expenses.

Our fees for new players last year varied by age group (# of tournaments played), the highest was $625. After fundraising the fees were reduced to $255 for the highest and $0 for returning 12u at the lowest, as we were able to give every player at all age levels $370 back. For their fees they received:

2 Jerseys
2 shorts
Helmet
Bat bag
4 pair socks
9 tournaments (includes Eastern Nationals)

Fall practices and weekday practices in season. Winterball was additional. Teams are provided all practice equipment.

Wow, here the hell do you get a slam to you out of what i said????? If anything its a compliment on how you are treated in your org. Isnt this like the 3-4th time youve jumped in someones *** with both feet lately? Nothing was meant by it and im sorry you took it the way you did.

Did seem a bit overly sensitive to me.

Hitter23:

For as much as you are on this forum, this can't be the first time you have seen me publicly acknowledge that as non-parent coaches, we are reimbursed for our motel expenses, and only for our motel expenses, which are mostly Red Roof Inns. We have been totally open about that. And about the fact that we only get a motel if the round trip for the tournament from our house exceeds 150 miles. So thanks for the slam on a thread where I was trying to provide the best information about the amount and the application of fees, which was what the thread poster was requesting. I guess that I would have been better off not responding at all or not being honest about where the fee went.

I also want to stress that we do not require ANY additional fund-raising from our families. If they fund-raise, it goes directly into their player fees. We provide the things that I described in exchange for the $775 player fee, period. And a part of those fees also go to shared organizational expenses, such as those IRS filings.

Carol thanks for the PM and Chris Hitter23 had no malice intended or implied by his response.

He is a great person and as you his heart is in the right spot, for the kids.

He was making a gesture that they could use what you have as to just paying for rooms as most coaches, organizations do not even provide the rooms.

In my opinion it was not a slam what so ever....it was wow! They get their rooms paid for! :D

WOW... what the hell is going on with OFC. I have seen more people going at it lately on here. I just love to lurk and make the occasional comment, like now. This is not directed at any single person or person's. I love to read the post of people way smarter then me concerning fast pitch softball but the going at it really needs to stop. If you have that big a problem with each other try a pm. Ok, back to lurking. ;&

Not easy to figure out what is going on here since the original posts seem to have mysteriously disappeared?! I know the Heat is a great org and are on the up and up, with great coaches and kids. Also from what I have seen and heard, it is pretty common for the non parent coaches to receive reimbursement for or some travel expenses paid. Just my knowledge from around my area anyway, not saying I am an expert of course...

Nothing to figure out. Also nothing "mysteriously" disappeared, both of us deleted posts because it was something just got out of hand between the two of us. Thanks for the concern......

Here is team fee related question.

If a team has a fee of $XXX, and the fee money goes into a general fund that is used to pay for uniforms, tourney fees, insurance, sanction fees, bat bags, etc., who do the uniforms belong to? Is it the team, or is it the player?

I would think the player, as long as all fees are paid.
