I think I payed in the $300 range this season. My dd got a new helmet, a team bat bag, 3 sets of uniforms, 6 tournaments & indoor ball. We participated in a couple fundraisers & worked at our own tournament. We payed for own hotel & travel expenses. I think it was incredibly reasonable.

Team fees seem to be all over the place but one thing is for sure. Fundraising is needed in just about every case to offset each families cost. We have a set fee for each player and each team does a few fundraisers that work best for them. In most cases these fundraisers end up covering the fees and any additional funds raised goes into an account for them to use at the end of the season as travel expense. Last year I would guess that more then 2/3rds of our players had raised more then their fees.

If an organization (or team) is playing in the bigger tournaments that cost upwards of $400.00 - $450.00 each then they have to charge enough to cover that. Last year the tournament entry fees that we paid increased almost 25% compared to the year before. We did not expect such an increase and would not have been able to cover it if we had not done an extra (organizational) fundraiser. I am wondering what will happen if a team charges a low player fee and then does not do as well on their fundraiser as expected. They may have to go back and ask for more or maybe enter one less tournament or so.

The good thing is that there appaears to be many options for players and families. They just have to find the right one for them. Good luck and happy hunting !!

wow!, those prices seem cheap compared to western pa. i paid $750, that includeds 2 uniforms, plus practice uniform(tee shirt), hoody/pants, helmet and bat bag,16 game winter league and 8 game summer tourny. 3 of the tournys' were in ohio and included overnight stays of 120.00 a night, 100 in gas same for food. we spent $1800 this year, although george w bush did give me a stimulus check to cover over half of that. most orgs. offer some type of payment plan or fundraising,, some of the start up teams charge 3 to 500.00 but do small local tournys' where there r only a handfull of teams.

we encourage participation in 2-4 fundraisers and have fees just over 300 (for my team). We played 56 games (8 tourneys, with 14 weeks of league play, had 3 full sets of Teamworks uniforms-very very nice) and played in league games, have long indoor winter work outs every weekend, and several other perks and it works out pretty good each year. Fundraisers include "fun events" that the girls can have fun off the field with each other-like a bowling event. Helps the parents become closer too.

At the end, we give back what's left in the kitty. Fee's vary for each coach in our organization... game count and schedule dictate the initial cost up front. We have 3 sets of uniforms, equipment sponsors (like others do) and the value for the dollar are pretty high. Since we let everyone know that the money left over is going back to them, the fundraisers/sponsors/donation collection have some real value and a lovely ring to it!! After all... it's supposed to be "non-profit". We also make each team fend for themselves... no $$$ sharing to help the other teams travel across the US.

We set fees at $600 2 sets uniforms, helmet, spring spano league, 9 tournaments, insurance. Fall league is $40 more. In the past we have had parents pay as little as $0 out of pocket for team fees with our fundraisers.

Explosion coach we had a numer of players who raised all of their fees via fundraiser or sponsorship as well. I was actually surprised this year as we had more then ever do that. We have always offered a payment plan and the oppertuntiy for all of our players to raise thier fees via fundraisers and sponsorship. This year it will be the same.

One thing that I have noticed is that many teams seem to offer low fees and then supplement with fundraisers. This is a fine strategy as long as the fundraisers go well. At the end of the day it still takes a about 5K - 6K to provide a solid schedule of tournaments and a decent package of team wear. Not much getting around that.
