Just wondering what the avg. cost of teams are. I have seen postings of costs around $250.00 to $400.00 is this the average? What does your organization charge for a new player to come onboard?

I think we paid around $500 for this summer & then we were asked to return the uniforms at the last tournament. :-[

$500.00 is not uncommon, especially if the team schedules a lot of qualifier tournaments and plans on going to a national or world series, and the teams I've dealt with charge the same for all girls. However, most teams have various fundraisers to help with the fees and a few have arrangements where parents can work events like concerts at Germain or OSU. If you are new to travel ball it adds up quick. Fees, motel rooms, gasoline, and the new $200.00 + bat your DD will insist that she just has to have. Oh yeah, and save all your vacation days. Good Luck! ?;D

Team fees $500-$600 - includes tournaments, uniforms, equipment (bat bag and helmet - sticks extra).

Hotels, gas, gate fees, meals, etc for 10 tournaments (6 out of town) $1200-$2000.

Nationals (if you qualify -all depends on where- driving or flying, etc) $1000-$3000.

Watching your DD and her team take home a top finish............priceless. ?8) 8) 8)

OK a bit corny but true tavel ball isn't easy on the wallet but it sure is fun!! :-*

Not sure if its more common than I know, but it hasnt happen in our area.
But again, my daughter is only 10 years old so its not like Ive been around this for a long time.

Yep, tournament ball isn't cheap, but like Luvthegame46 said , "priceless" in the shape of the quaility time you get to spend with your DD.....I know where my teenage daughter is most Saturday nights, LOL ( our off season practice time is 9-11 Saturday @ the dome) I say a ball park estimate of softball cost for one season including fees ($550 + travel + gas + motel + plane fare , Florida) is around $7000, but we traveled almost every weekend this summer, Our season is Jan - Oct with short break for HS other than clinics with her pitching and batting coaches... Other than a Gold team, I would say this could be @ the high end of team cost, definately something that needs to be considered when chosing a team for the summer, Good luck.

$500.00 for team fees, uniform deposit of $75.00. Players get three sets of uniforms and a bat bag. They don't pay for the uniform so they don't keep it. They do keep the visor and practice shirts.

Our fee was $400 for this season. That included 2 uniforms, batting helmet and bat bag. We also were required to help in a tournament sponsored by the organization that raised money for the season's expenses.

Looked at another team that was also $400 for the season, which included uniform, batbag and helmet.

The team we were on the prior year was $600 for the season but you also paid out of pocket for uniforms (3), helmet and socks. They rented an indoor facility for winter practices, which increased the costs.

With the rising cost of fancy uniforms, you are going to see the fees increase along with returning the uniforms. Some organizations use the same uniforms for two or three years. The players get to keep the uniforms after that.

If an organization uses the t-shirt and mesh shorts uniforms, they are usually cheaper. Typically the girls wear them for one season.

It cost the Diamond Dogs $400.00 last year and they kept the uniform, helmet, and bat bag. I believe it's going to $425.00 this season.

If a team wanted to do things as cheaply as possible, assuming no one was privately funding the team, here are the costs that I don't see as being avoided:

Tournaments - $2,800 (8 x $350). Of course, add for more tournaments and subtract for fewer.

Insurance - $70 or so.

Sanction fees - $75 or so.

Equipment - $0 to $300, depending on what the coach may already have.

First aid kit with supplies - $30, but really much more if it's going to be stocked decently at all.

Uniforms - $750. This is really going on the cheap, but I suppose it could be done.

That's at least $3,750 going on the cheapest way I could figure. Divided by 12 that's about $310 per girl and leaves no cushion for unforseen expenses, which there are always plenty.

JoeA1010,

Great minds (or maybe it's weak minds) must think alike. I just had a coaches meeting tonight and had calculated the cost for the same items you listed and I came up with $3,788. That does not include a pitching machine and balls, batting net, practice balls, bases and portable home plate, hitting tee, etc. The list does go on almost endlessly.

keep in mind the cost that JoeA put in there for uniforms is VERY cheap....which he mentioned. Most teams will spend around $95.00 - $120.00 per player on uniforms if they are average to above average uniforms.

I know that in our case we provide three sets of uniforms per player. Two sets of what I consider pretty nice uniforms and one set of a racerback T-Shirt type uniform that they team wears on fridays for example.

If you can get a team's budget at or under $4,000.00 you are doing pretty well.

Of course that is not considering any organizational expenses such as renting indor training space ect.

I know for Chain Reaction we did have different fees for new and returning players.
? ? ? ?New player fees are $475.00. ?New player uniforms consist of 2 pairs of shorts, 3 shirts, 2 pairs of sliders, 2 pairs of socks, shin guards, visor, jacket, batting helmet, and bat bag.

? ? ? ? ?Returning player fees are $375.00. ?Returning player uniforms consist of 2 pair of shorts, 3 shirts, 2 pairs of sliders, 2 pairs of socks, and a visor. Other items are only replaced if too small, damaged, or worn out beyond repair.

? ? ? ? The bat bags are have their names and numbers on them and ?the jackets have their names and numbers on the front and our logo on the back.

? We do some of fundraising through out the year to help pay for other cost ( fall ball, indoor just to name a few ) and what ever is left is split between the girls for nationals at the end of the year. I know that this year we were lucky and had a few nights paid for at nationals. This past year we had 1 u12, 2 - u14, and 1 u16 team and with 3 of the teams going to nationals in Illinoise. For our other team who did not go to nationals they played in the pony nationals at home and the money was split with this team as well, and from what i understand they used it to go out to dinner a few times among other things.
Thanks
Scott Saluga

Shockwave fees were $300.00 last year. That was for whole year that included summer, fall and winter ball, no extra cost for indoor practices/batting and etc.. The girls get two uniforms and warm-ups and a bat bag. This year we raised fees to 400.00. this will include the winter and spring leagues at the spano plus summer tournaments. The girls will get 2 uniforms plus we are looking at new warm-ups. We do not charge for socks and visors. We depend on fundraisers to make up the additional cost of things.

Fastpitch Fury is $200 per FAMILY meaning if you have 1 in 10U and 1 in 12U, its still $200. Then we ask that all the kids and parents participate in our fundraisers(dodgeball, softball tourny etc..,) in additon to the entry fees. We find the fundraising is a great time to get the kids and parents to work as a team and build that bond. We go with 2 uniforms as well.

The Ohio Crush teams paid $200 per player this past yeaar, and that included:

Spano Dome
2 Uniforms
bat bags
helmets
team tshirt
team hoodie
7-9 tournaments per summer based on coaches preference.

We are a Sports Club of the Boys and Girls Club in Massillon, and they provide equipment, insurance and tournament fees.
Fundraisers are done on a team by team basis and are not required. We played NSA A State and Nationals, and other tournaments like Loudonville, Tigerrtown, Grand Slam etc. Thank God for the Club!!!

Our fee's were $650 last year, but can be much lower if you choose to do fundraisers.
We did fall ball, 1 fall tournament, 3 indoor tournaments, 10 outdoor spring summer tournaments. 14 total tournaments
Practiced all winter every Sunday at G-plex state of the art indoor facility which was funded by hosting tournaments there. So no extra cost for indoor use.
2 full sets of uniforms plus 1 pair of pants.
All team supplies
These fee's are before fund raisers that are optional but can raise all your fee's if you choose to do so.
Also All sponsership money goes directly to your dd's fee's we take nothing.
