Can I get some feed back on the below plays.
Last inning, tying run on third no outs, batter hits to second base where should the play be?
Last inning, tying run on third 2 outs, batter hits to short stop, where should play be?

Thank you in advance for any information

My mindset is not to allow the score.

First scenario you look the girl back and throw if you have time. Decisions made in a whisper. I don't concede the run. It's not automatic that the 2nd baseman simply flip to 1st because the girl at 3rd could be on a hit and run scenario. You have to check her before securing the out.

Last scenario is a throw to 1st due to there being 2 outs. Run does not score on the 3rd out of the inning in this routine play. 2 outs, the runner is leave on contact. Unless she has the presence of mind to draw the fielder's interest to buy the hitter time to reach safely.

2 different strategies from both sides and all make the game fun to watch/play.

Just my opinion and before my morning coffee. lol

I agree with @daboss. First scenario R3 needs to be checked regardless. If it's a hit and run scenario, the plays at 4 and the catcher should be ready for the throwdown to 2 or possibly 3 depending on the speed of the batter. If not take the out at 1 and there should be an immediate throw from 1 to 4 if R3 is going.

The second scenario is a no brainer, take the out at 1 for the final out. If the 3rd out of the inning is a force out, the run doesn't count even if the runner crosses the plate before the out. It's not the same as a tagout situation where the opposite is true.

We talking Deep in the hole 2nd base? Hit n run is most likely ON. Where are they at in their lineup? There's alot of variables to this.

Short answer give the Runner a quick look but most importantly get AN OUT. We have been hitting so if they tie it up no worries. Worst case we get an out and they tie it up. No runners on with 1 out.
