For me a bad thing is telling a player she didn't make the cut. The worst thing is telling that same thing to a player who you used to coach in rec, then All-Stars back when my daughter was younger. Some of those players you get to know and are so eager to get back on a team that you are coaching but they just aren't ready to play on this team.
It would be easier to just email them as the tryout paper says, but I can't. I have to call them and speak to them and their parents. Sometimes I wonder who will hurt worse, them or I?
