Things you HATE to hear...

How 'bout when the batter hits a grounder and the first base coach yells RUN HARD.............(like the instructions changed from the last at-bat)

Or when a fielder drops a ball and the coach says "Use both hands".......(because, after all, mitts have 10 finger slots)

Or "You gotta catch those"

I have a ton of them. As does everyone else.

Remember, coaches, these girls are smart. You don't have to have a cliche spewing out of your mouth every 5 seconds. Offer advice and instructions - When necessary! Otherwise, let the players play.

When an opposing pitcher is not hitting her spots, and the team's parents yell, "Don't worry, she won't swing."

Depends on the age group. With the younger girls, if you don't yell some things that are cliched, two not-so-good things can happen: 1) you will find out that the young lady has forgotten some things we might consider so basic as to be a cliche or 2) the energy of the entire team lets down because you aren't enough of a cheerleader for them (and no, our team doesn't do cheers).

How about ripping her for swinging at a borderline high pitch for strike two only to lock her up for strike three looking.

i'll have to agree with the earlier poster who said someone yells from the stands with 3 balls
and 0 strikes, don't lose her. we had a one on our team that would yell that from the stands and
drove me nuts.(short drive)

Pop up drops behind the second baseman. "Somebody has to Call It!" Nobody called it because nobody thought they could CATCH it. If you don't know you're going to catch it, you SHOULDN'T call it. You might discourage the person who CAN catch it from going for it! Call it when you KNOW you've got it -- and not until.

What about when a parent or girl says "If we loss one are we done". Turns my stomach everytime.

When an umpire says, "Strike on the outside corner"; we all know anytime one has to justify where it was, then it wasn't really there!

The last thing that I want to hear from players, coaches or parents is.....don't lose her. The pitcher is down 3-0 and everyone is telling her not to lose her. Great idea to put the negative idea into her head. How about a little positive reinforcement people??

Good point!!! I agree 100%

;)I really like this thread...

Don't swing untill she thows a strke...
(that is the one you should be swinging at - DOH)

Move up in the batters box...
(and mess up the timing... huh?)

Move back in the batters box (see above)

Choke up on the bat.....
(and make the plate coverage smaller?)

On third and a fly ball to deep OF... half way!!!!
(and that much further to go back to tag up)

and my favorite...

Take the first pitch!
(What every pitcher loves to hear.) ;&

Charge the bunt!!!!!
(Ooops, fake bunt and hit or a slapper... Ouch... and the eventual ... Is that legal?)

Keep your eye on the ball
(Thank God for Game Face)

PROTECT THE PLATE!
(again... DOH)

Make her thow a strike!
(Time out...time for the batter to discuss stategy with the pitcher)

How about "It's ok Honey don't worry about it" When a play that got blowin' by a player's error, Of course the opposing team is capitalizing on this mistake.

I like when a ball bounces in the dirt three feet in front of the plate or is 4 feet over everybodies head and you hear "good eye, good eye" from everybody.... Good eye?????!!!!!!! Stevie Wonder wouldn't even swing at that pitch.

However, we all have our Mr. Obvious moments now and then. I was at a family reunion last weekend and saw my cousins walking up from their car carring their covered dish and dragging their cooler. They were about an hour or so late and before I could think my mouth said, "What, you just getting here?" He just looked at me and I immediatly realized what just transpired. Hello, Mr Obvious????

:lmao: Or...Heres yer sign!

Yes I also agree on the "good eye" one. I just mutter to myself...welllllll duh!

Swing level...swing level....SWING LEVEL, keep your head down, keep your head up..

I keep sitting there thinking...OK, the ball comes across the plate how fast? How many levels?(high, low, inside, outside placement) Can the child please just hit the ball already? Ok, Coach is just doing their job, then...

So the girl sends the ball out of the ball park or to the fence...I actually heard this once or twice, That was a good hit... but...............Me thinking ...oO(HUH? But??)
