After giving up 7 runs in 2 innings, the pitcher asks, "whats the score", I reply 7-0 ... she replys "who is winning" .... This didnt happen once, but twice in one season of "b" ball.
Oh my, I'm not sure I'd have made it out of that dugout without getting arrested for disturbing the peace. This is one of my pet peeves (players asking the score and not knowing who is winning even after you give them the score) and I need to get more patient about it. But for a pitcher not to know what end she's on in a game where one team hasn't scored a run?!?!!
When I was a player an older gentleman was at every game and he would yell at me "Just hit the ball." haha. I was really trying to hit the ball!
And something else that I never liked to hear as a parent "Hello _____? Well, Caitlin had a line drive come back at her ....." By this time I am imagining all kinds of things and then the phone goes dead.
Another great one...
As your almost running late at 6AM and almost an hour away from the tourney, were 10 minutes into the ride before I go into the verbal checklist only to here " no DAD its in YOUR car, dont tell me YOU left it there?... thanks, now Im gonna be late."
That was the mitt that she cannot play without (* I did bring my mitt to catch for her though.lol) and yes it WAS my fault.
Hot dog at $2.00. That always gets me. Make the concessions reasonable and the teams won't be eating in the parking lot...lol
But, I love Ms. Bob Darden's chicken sandiches. Honestly, I do. I live 70 miles from Beavercreek. I buy one when I get there in the morning to umpire.. both days... I'm 50 and this is the best sandwich I have ever ate at any ball park.
The funiest thing I heard this year was at the UNiform Blowout .. the team who won the tournament from West Virginia said, Those (insert team name) sure do swing the bat. Everyone of them.
To which the coach replied, " Tell Tim why we swing the bat".
