I had a question, maybe someone could answer it.....Why would a parent put their pitching DD on a team that has 4 or more pitchers already. Lets say that this organization is big and known for winning tournaments. Is winning trophies all that its about? If my DD pitched I'd be looking for a team that needed pitching so I could assure lots of innings for her. At a 16U level you need exposure for high school and college, your not going to get exposure sitting on the bench being the 4th or 5th pitcher.

Agreed. However, you will probably see this happening for one of three reasons. The first you already mentioned. For some people, it is all about winning and trophies because they are so competitive. What they fail to see is how the situation may be detrimental to their DD's development. The second reason IMO, is that some parents have the ole rose colored glasses on and think that their DD is much better than she actually is. They put her on "that" team and expect her to be the #1 or #2 pitcher because they feel she is truly that good. When this doesn't happen, they usually become disgruntled and can become a problem family for the coaches, team and organization in general. Lastly, you get the families that want their DD to have to compete. If their DD is , say #5, they want her to see how much better the others are and hopefully their DD will realize that they need to work/practice/push themselves much harder in order to achieve their dream of becoming a dominant pitcher. The downside to this is sometimes the DD will think that she isn't good enough and will never be good enough no matter the amount of practice and just quit pitching altogether. IMO, this covers about 90% of these cases.
