After last night/early morning, 8 teams remain, 4 in each bracket. Sorry, I can't remember most of them. Ohio Bandits and the Ohio Stealth were still alive in the in the winner's bracket and The Ohio Stingrays-Morman and the Ohio Classics were still alive in the loser's bracket. The Ohio Stingrays-Morman and the Ohio Classics play each other at 9:45 am Sunday morning.

A real exciting game last night between the NEO Bulldogs and Stingrays-Morman that went 9 innings. Girls on both teams showed a lot of intensity. The Stingrays came out with a 4-2 very hard earned win.

Also on the day:

Stingrays-Morman over Cincy Elite 4-0,
Ohio Stealth over Stingrays-Morman 10-7
Ohio Stealth over Ohio Hawks (4-0?)

OH Ice black played 3 losers bracket games on Sat and 4 today - semi championship against wolfpack about to start - Ice would need to beat them twice

Ohio Classics over Stingrays-Morman 6-3 in the 9:45 game this morning.

In one of the 8 am games it was Wolfpack-Wolff over Ohio Bandits.

So, somewhere along the way the Ohio Classics were knocked-out and the Ohio Bandits were knocked out.

TD informed me that 4 berths were to be awarded so we have Wolfpack-Wolf, Ohio Ice-Black and 2 unnamed (at this point) teams getting tickets to the Big Show.

The Wolfpack WOLFF team is a tough team to play, everyone squares up the ball and they hit hard, im not surprised they are in the finals. Im going to start wearing straw hats in their honor, maybe we can hit like that.

Some observations....

1. Can Ohio ASA get a facility for the State Tournament that will rake/line/drag fields between games, or allow volunteers to do it?

2. At 18U, coaches calling pitches...Really??? Come on coaches, cut the rope.

3. TD and UIC readily available and very approachable.:)

4. Lots of home runs.:yahoo:

5. Great Shredded Chicken sandwiches at a very reasonable rate..$2.50 Nice food concession operations.:yahoo:

6. Non-standard pool play game times and some teams only got to play 1 pool game due to the weather/park workers.:(

Classics eliminated Bandits and Ice Black eliminated Classics. OH Stealth lost 3-2 to Wolfpack Wolff and then were eliminated by Ice Black for 3rd place. Classics were 4th.

Are you talking about the "cream chicken" sandwiches? Must have been a Zanesville thing. We ventured out looking for someplace to eat and saw 2 signs advertising them and the Dairy Queen had "cream chicken" sandwiches. Was sorta like a pot pie on a bun.

We had to play the same team for our 2 pool play games.

Is'nt Asa state tourney supposed to have home run fences?

Home runs? How about 3 in one game by Britt Duncan on the back cow pasture, the last one 2 hopping and hitting chain link on a 300 ft. fence !!

Yea, they were calling them Cream Chicken Sandwiches. We call them shredded chicken sandwiches. Very delicious, no matter what you call it. :) Also, huge hot dogs for the same price.

Yep, sampled the jumbo dog too, it was a polish sausage. They called walking tacos, tacos in a bag. the concession stand was probably the best thing about the park.

never once did a helmut or bat get checked

two fields used in elimination rounds did not have fences.

playing at 12:30 am friday night is kind of late.

good competition though.

good luck to all the teams that got the bids.

What about umpires? Most were pretty good but a couple were well......some wanted line ups and some wouldn't take them. One was adamant about runners using the running lane. Some didn't care. Oddly inconsistent.

I guess college coaches should let go also, also MLB!

I agree Tim but.....not every travel ball coach has a scouting report or hitting chart against the opposition like MLB or college. If there is no knowledge of the opponent then I think you let catcher call the game until she proves inaffective. She has the best view of the swing and what is working for the pitcher. JMO

A very solid Wolfpack Wolff beat Ohio Ice Black in championship game. The Wolfpack team can really hit and play ball.

Proud of Ohio Ice Black. Battled back from first round loss to fight through some very good teams to face Wolfpack team in championship. Ice Black ends up going 9-2 for entire tournament. Lots of heart, good hitting and solid pitching with tough defense late this afternoon.

8 teams left Sunday morning were bandits, stealth, wolfpack, Ohio ice, explosive black, Marion diamonds 94, classics and stingrays. Umpiring was good except Saturday night late game but asa officials were watching the game and took note.

Doom North lasted until late Saturday night, losing the 10 o'clock game to the Classics....lots of speed for the short game, quality pitching, nice team overall.

For the weekend:
Doom over Buckeye Elite 4-0 in pool (only got one game due to weather)
Doom over Bulldogs 9-8 in 9 innings (Bulldogs are one scrappy team!)
Doom over Marion Diamonds 6-5 (another well fought game on both sides...not surprised the diamonds were around Sunday morning)
Explosive Black over Doom 8-7 (again, a nail biter..unfortunately we were on the wrong end of the finish)
Classics over Doom 12-4 (it was tied 4-4 in the top of the 7th....short game killed us)
