ASA tourneys draw better competition for sure. Alot of this depends on where you are in the country or even in the state as USSSA is bigger in the south of Ohio as well as the West. NSA still has more tourneys up North. In Texas, ASA was king and USSSA was dying and there was no NSA at all or Ponys. USFA was making an entrance. Look and see who is holding the tourney, the rep that it has and determine if you want tough competition or to go trophy hunting.

not sure I agree with what was floated out there --that ohio did'nt do well at ASA nats . The 18u results are listed above. Not sure about 16u results. But at 14u I think Laser Red and Doom 95 finished 34th out of 120 teams . Slammers top ten. At 12u Laser Black finishes top 10 after not even being thought of as a top 3 team in ohio . riptides got W's over texas and cali teams. Gold did'nt get the high finish they were after but everyone should know how talented the team was. Not sure about 10u results but Ohio did pretty well I believe. MD

CERTAINLY NO NEED TO TAKE POT SHOTS AT THOSE WHO WORK THEIR TAILS OFF TO GET THERE

My insinuation was not at all that the Ohio teams did not fair ok.........it was that ASA is by far the toughest venue and if you aspire to play ASA Nationals Class A........better have the tools to do it....can't just go with half the team loaded and half not expecting to do well. All the teams I spoke with that went said the teams they faced were tough top to bottom, only makes sense better take your bear gun if you are going to hunt bear.
Last years team played primarily an ASA schedule nothing bad to say about it at all except in hindsight probably would have only taken 10 or 11 girls instead of 12...so hard to play everybody in ASA with 12 or more girls.

In this order.......
ASA: Best competition, but also probably most expensive, due to travel and tournament locations, has the name to make college coaches attend in force, although there are some who are trying to beat ASA at their own game.......
NSA:Less than 4 years ago NSA held some realy stacked and tough tournys in ohio and In, cant speak for PA never played there, but did play the top level teams from Pa and In and they followed the same NSA/ASA circuit we did. and have seen a few college coaches here and there.
USSSA: Is a good place to start to test the waters and see what your team is made of, nothing wrong with doing that then moving to a more difficult venue the next season, or you may have a team that wishes to play ball and have fun .its the place to be, the atmosphere is more directed at that .

Couldn't say it better myself mustohiofastpitch!! NSA last year had hardly andy quality teams and the draw for nationals wasn't very impressive either! I must say you would save money if you used the 9 grandma's, LOL, NSA should just move to rec and start hosting rec qualifiers and nationals. JMO

Thats a Total exaggeration. I take it you are involved with some Elite team ... Lets not throw the Baby out with the Bath water.
