If I understand your question correctly, my answer would be "no". BUT as a coach of a different team I'm not going to talk to that player unless and until she has already made the break with the first team. I think that is what ethics demands. If there is a girl on our team out shopping, I want to know as soon as possible so we can protect the team's structure by replacing that girl ASAP with someone at her position. When the shoe is on the other foot, I don't think I have the right to discuss offering a position to a girl whose coach doesn't have a clue that he or she is about to lose a player.

CGS, At least you would hope that a girl is being honest that she has broken with her previous team before talking with you. Otherwise her current coach will see you as a girl stealing SOB and defame you to everyone they know. Then not only would you have that problem to deal with on un-smearing your character, you now have a player you can't count on being truthful with you and would most likely be forced to let her go if you stick to your ethics.
