Where does time go?

It just hit me at the tryout meeting last night that we are going into 16U. Time goes too fast, you must enjoy it while you can. DD pictured below as a 9 year old with Doom '95.

I was just thinking the same thing last night. At least I'll get to savor the next three years watching my dd play with Bales and the next four years with Brooke in HS. Here's Jessica with the 8U Raptors.

Looking at some old posts and found this. Now she is playing 18u Gold for her 2nd year and then off to college. Way too fast.

I hate to tell you this but you haven't seen fast until they get into college. You tend to lose track of the days when she isn't around as often and before you know it - it's Christmas Break, In-Season (50 games in the blink of an eye) and then she comes home for Summer. Most of them get a job in the Summer and then it's a quick turnaround back for Fallball.

Daughter moves back in this weekend and she's very excited to be getting her first apartment. She'll be away from home once again this time next week and I'll once again be counting the days to Fallball games. I've learned to manage the sadness by engaging myself in other activities like this silly kickball league my wife has us in :). I like to think of myself as the Babe Ruth of kickball but I don't help my case much when I point where the ball is going and some stinking brat catches it 5 feet behind 1st base and a complete 180 from where I was pointing.

Bottom line, enjoy every single second you can get with her. Put your arms around her often and let her know you are proud of her. Make sure she is prepared to go on her own and let her live her life. There are going to be mistakes throughout the way but trust she knows how to learn from those mistakes and brushes herself off for the next event.

Softball has taught you both a great deal but it never teaches you how to watch her go. You have to feel the pain in order to learn how to heal.

I feel everyone pain. I help start the Static 8 yrs ago when my DD was only 9 & now she is a second yr 16, driving, & 5 inches taller than me. I am going into my eighth yr coaching her & the org is now 8 yrs old too. Happy for the progression by sad that the time has gone by so quickly.

Time does fly. It seems like only a couple of seasons ago that my DD was playing 2nd base on her T-ball team as a 5 year old, and throwing the ball straight down into the dirt every time she scooped up a grounder. Now she's the short stop on her summer team and going into her freshman year of high school. Before I know it that will be over too. I try to catch every one of her games that I can, and I know that I'm losing some income doing so but I don't care. We're building memories I'll treasure forever.

Time does fly, that's why it is so important to make time in our lives for the things that are important in are kids lives. They will have great memories and so will we.

My DD has been out of school for over 2 years, recently married now and living at fort campbell, Ky. She took one of my jugs nets and makes her husband soft toss to her in the back yard. They never really let it go.
