Every summer I find the tales of directions gone wrong very amusing and never ending. So I ask you, my fellow OFC'ers, "Which do you feel gives the best directions?".

I use a combination of GPS as well as Google maps. I go on Google to see where the best entrance to the fields are then use GPS to get there!

I use Mapquest also......but yes I agree at some point it does give wrong directions too. So I usually hope that the Coach decides to go to tournaments I already know how to get to.......LOL

You left out one very important choice.....my wife. Just ask her, she'll tell you where to go.

Have GPS, but google because if you use goggle Satellite you can actually see the place and what is around the area, in terms of places to eat . Plus its a neat way to look at places from the sky down. It is not as nice as the military version , so don't plan on reading a newspaper that someone has in the stands.

Good topic. Nothing much worse than having to beg an umpire and opposing coach to delay the game because it's two minutes till game time and my two best players are in the same car that made a wrong turn and got lost.

GPS rocks. When we had ours stolen at Eastern ASA's, we replaced it almost immediately. Really reduces the tension inside the car as we navigate to places we've never been. Plus I would purchase it just for the way it gives us the names and addresses of restaurants and other points of interest near to the place we are playing.

For those that like the aerial views, you can also check out bing.com. They have what they call a "bird's eye" view for a lot of locations. It is even better than the typical aerial shots from straight overhead.

I usually use mapquest but sometimes it seems to take you on a strange route every now and then.

GPS hands down. Not only will it get you where you are going, but press a button on the screen to find places to eat, sleep, fuel up, etc.

I do travel to homes in several counties for work and have always liked Mapquest. For tournaments I Mapquest then look at the satellite view to see if there are ball fields where it is telling me to go. Many parks do not have good street addresses which is why you get the errors. Sometimes you have to back out and look for the fields but they are easy to pick up from the satellite view.

I looked at the satellite view for the Maple Leaf but didn't see it move.

I found a website this past season that you can use if you don't have the street address of the field, but you can find it on the satellite view. You can place a marker at the field, or the parking lot for the field, to get the latitude and longitude of the location.

If your GPS accepts latitude and longitude coordinates (most do), just enter them in, and the GPS calculates the route that way.

Voted for gps but I also use mapquest or yahoo maps. GPS can help find local resturants and hotels.

I got the base model Garmin Nuvi. I tell you...the best money i have ever spent!! It might not give you the best way, or the local short-cuts, but it WILL get you there and get you home. I have also found the arrival time it displays is right on the money give or take a minute either way. Also love the speed limit display and speed traveling.
