I will. DD has only been playing for him for a short while...but has never attended such intense, focused, and skill-enhancing practices in all of her years of softball. He knows the game extremely well, and the players love working hard for him and producing results...and in both practice and games, he keeps it fun. (FYI...she has played for good coaches her entire career...so this is a heartfelt and objective appraisal)

Wow this is an incredible analogy! Do me a favor when your bringing him is coffe and chocolate cake remind him he still owes me a Steak Dinner!

I would also like to give props to Jamie Wolff of the Wolfpack. Jamie does an outstanding job with his teams and his organization and he knows how to run top notch tournaments.

I think you meant Phil Marcantonio...

I'm going to have to agree with Les' assessment that Kavin Morgan will produce a good number of girls that will play at the collegiate level. Every girl that is currently with Cincy Static '97 has a very good chance to play at the next level, and I believe Kavin will play an important part in these girls achievement of that goal.

My DD is a pitcher on Kavin's team, and although Kavin isn't her pitching coach (big plug for Pat Pollock here), she has learned so much about hitting, and the game in general, from Kavin, that she is well on her way to achieving her goal of playing in college, and hopefully doing so with some type of scholarship.

Just wanted to chime in here about Kavin. I have known Kavin for several years and I have watched him grow into the great coach that he is becoming. I coached our first Cincy Static College Exposure team up until this year and now have dropped down to coach my younger daughters (10U) team now that their older sis is playing in college. We played a prestigious ASA "A" college exposure schedule with our team and 9 of the 10 seniors we graduated are playing collegiately. That is tremendous success and I know that the 2011 college exposure team has already signed several of its seniors. I have personally coached against some of the best coaches in the country...there are many great ones! I think I am pretty okay myself ;-)

That said...I think Kavin will go on to have even better success at aiding his girls in getting signed. He knows the process as he has been through it himself. He and more importantly his players and parents have "bought in" and they all have the dedication and tenacity necessary to not only have a great team but also to make sure they do what they need to now to be "recruitable" later. He is an extremely dedicated and knowlegeable coach but more importantly he is smart enough to learn from the best an apply it to his team. He knows that to be the best coach and to produce the best players you must ensure they have the best instructors...even the great coaches cant do it all :) They have to know their limits and be willing to ask for help when necessary. You have to know a few key people (college coaches, respected instructors, TD's) that respect and believe in what you are doing too. Your players MUST be prepared and they must perform once on that stage! Kavin is gonna be that guy...atleast until my 10U team gets there...haha. He is a hard driver...I expect that all of his players will reach their highest potential with his guidance and the support of great instructors.

This mythical coach should also have an established network within the college recruiting world. In addition to being able to motivate the girls for their game, he will have to be a top-notch salesman for the girls' talent.

If we were talking about creating an all-ohio the top players in the state team, you would need a coach with the Rep statewide. Cavenaugh or Joe A, with Jamie Wolfe putting it together. Thats how it would get done and thats how it would be a sucess.

A good coach is only as good as their players................. If the team wins, the team gets the credit. If they lose, it is the coach's fault.

I'm going with Glen Widner too. I have been so fortunate for my oldest daughter, 17, to have played for Glen since he started the Lasers White. I could submit a list of all the things he has done to help, teach, train and promote her. I am also thrilled that he is now coaching my 14 year old with the Lasers Black. It couldn't be a more perfect situation for my family.

Many years ago Glen told the Lasers White parents that he will train and teach the girls (he is a fantastic hitting coach btw) and he will get them as much exposure as possible. He never guaranteed a first place finish in tournaments, but promised that our girls will play in front of as many college coaches as possible. His measure of his performance as a coach is this; if every girl who wants to play in college gets to and gets as much money as possible then he feels like he has done his job. As one guy told me at a tournament, finally there is a guy who has really figured it all out!

I believe the Lasers White only has one, maybe two girls who have not committed to a college yet. (Butler, Akron, Cornell, Kent St., Ohio St., Wright State, James Madison are some of the colleges girls are committed to.)

I would say Widner for sure. I have personally learned a ton from him over the last 3 years and he is the "Yoda" of hitting. Glen see's a girl swing a few times and he knows. Most important, he is 100% in it for the kids and the love of the game.

Not sure how to spell his name but I think a coach named Jeff esenbrant is probably the best kept secret in NWO. He is always teaching his players and is what I would consider a student of the game. I have watched him coach many times and I have never seen him lose his cool. I have seen his teams beat or @ least hang with some of the better teams around. I wish my kid would have been able to play for him. Hopefully when my nieces are old enough a few of them will be able to play for him. I am pretty sure his team made it to the USA/ASA a few years ago. Even if he wouldn`t be considered as a head coach of an Ohio team he is one a smart coach would want on his staff.

Hey I have a fan! Thanks for the kind words. For the record it is spelled
Eisenbrandt. As far as my team I have a great group of girls who work hard. They know academics come first and foremost They are learning to develop into strong leaders and that is what I believe is needed to help take their team to the next level. As far as other good coaches. I do not remember his name but in the GAPSS tournament last season we played a stingray 18u team that had a coach that I thought was impressive. The team obviously was very well coached.

How much do you think this coach should be paid???

A Coach that actual can coach skills development, game coaching , as well as situational coaching should get paid at least $10k. There have been coaches mentioned on this thread that do a great job in one or two of these areas, but not too many that have all three. Most are highly respected if they have one. Ironically, I've seen some coaches listed here that don't have ANY of these qualities, but because they schedule practice weekly, coordinate try-outs, and finalize game schedules each year, they are somehow respected as a quality coach. The bar is so low....lol

Have to second the Kavin Morgan comments. Kids will work, learn, grow every practice under his direction. His kids are noticebly better every time I see them.
