To whom are you referring?
The one who recently had a very public court case that can't be around kids.... I refuse to ever use that name on a softball related board...

Dave Murphy has my vote.........
I think there are a tremendous amount of very good coaches out there with organizations that fly under the radar. A good coach not only knows the game & techniques, but also knows people.
-Truly high level coaches may not be the best when it comes to the game, but they are definitely the best when it comes to knowing their players, knowing how they think, react and what motivates them.
-A great coach knows their own limitations and brings in others to compliment their own talents.
-A great coach is always willing to take the blame for a loss and give the credit to the players for a win.
- A great coach is in it for the kids success and not their own ego
- A great coach doesn't need to recruit the best players, they make them!
- A great coach understands that there is far more to life than their sport and supports their players endeavors to discover it.
- A great coach is initially perceived as mean by some and in the end is extended family to most.
Using the above criteria I can name you a whole lot of coaches in Ohio that will never make this list, but they sure deserve to. JMHO
Happy New Year to All!!!

Well, Bill Lilley can't have any contact with minors, so he is automatically out.
Some coaches just assemble talent and get called great when in fact they were blessed with great players, but really don't make them better. A great coach will actually teach the girls to get better and will help them improve all season, and they will end the season better then they started it.
In my opinion Cliff Philen is one of those coaches. A great teacher and coach.
How much do you think this coach should be paid???
