I'm sure someone will be here touting Slammers/Lasers/Ice/Stingrays...

this argument is like the De la hoya fight saving boxing...with all the sanctioning bodies and glutton of tourneys, whose to say?

The Slammers will sanction with ASA as a 12U team; they already are in the PONY 12U national championship as defending national champions.
The Slammers cannot play 14U in NSA due a rule that prevents players from jumping more than one age group; the Slammers third baseman is 10.
The Slammers will continue to play as much 14U competition as possible to GET BETTER!!

I would say, as history shows, the Lasers Green/Orange will be dominating. They only get better and better with each tournament and improve the entire year long. Saw the slammers play this past weekend and they truly are impressive. A very talented group of young ladies who would have to dominate the 12u this year.

Why everybody in my neck of the woods know who the best team is. It is the Bugtussle Tire, Battery and Ice Cream Parlor All Stars. They have a girl on the team nameds Sally Sue Shifflet that can plum near hit the ball in Possum creek. She can hit that ball so hard that the birds don't fly near the field anymore.

BTBICP also has a pitcher named Ruby Ann Creeger that can make that there ball dance like a butterfly. I've seen players end up a nervous wreck trying to hit that ball and ended up crying and cussing. (Not pointing any fingers or naming names, mind you but this team may be from around Heartworm area - you didn't hear it from me).

They also have a girl, Gertie Ruth Hatfield, that can run circles around that Jessie Owens fellow. On my word, I seen her hit a ball to short stop one day and she ran to first base, then to the Ice Cream Parlor for a coke and was back at 1st before the ball arrived from short stop. I am not kidding.

Now if that is not the best team in the area, I will eat my hat and donate my overalls to Goodwill.

I have to agree with Johnnies. I saw BTBICP play last week and they are truly the team to beat. Ruby Ann is a force on the mound. They could easily play 18U and hold their own.

Here we go again but I will add my teams by what I have seen this year and what I saw last year.
CincyDoom92 - very impressive
BuckeyeHeat -Allen
Laser Green - Playing 14U and 16U this year
Ohio Ice- Newsome I believe they are playing 14/16U this year : Very good hitting team.

Im sure I missed some but these are the ones i know of.Have never seen the Lil Slammers but sounds like they have a great group .

why dont we start with ...

# of returning players (say, like the Nightmare)
1-4 place finishes in big tournies last year for older 12 teams moving up and maybe 14's that did well last year (Stingray, GAPPS, Compuware, ASA/NSA/PONY nationals)
# of trash talking fans on this board (it has to account for something)

didn't see much of the 14's last year, but the ice/lasers orange 12's were any indication, they were pretty darn good..anybody keeping the votes?

CincyDoom--1
BHeat--1
Lasers Green---1
Slammers (playing up)--1
Ice--2
Lasers O--1
...keep em coming board

?and what are you trying to say?

why does every negative comment always goes back to the GCKA Nightmare?
what do people have against the Nightmare?

xSoftball Lov3rx,

The question by Delacruz was not a bash. ?Don't read anything into the words. ?From what I saw, the Nightmare from last year kept a core of good players and had some other good players join them. ?Having played the new Nightmares last fall, they definately are a team that if you do not show up playing your best, it will be a seeminly long (probably 5 innings) disappointing game.

As for the topic, I vote for BTBICP.

well it's good to know that there are some people that dont speak negativly against the Nightmare. it also seems like a bunch people are thinking that the Nightmare are nothing without of the 3 freshaman that have not been able to play with them this Spring because they are playing for their High School and starting at the varsity level. I guess it just upsets me to see people leaveing negative comments about such a strong softball club.

Bugtussle Tire, Battery and Ice Cream Parlor has 12 girls returning from last year. Heck, there are only 12 girls in the area, not counting Barbara (Barbie) McNutley - who is always entering them there "pretty pagents" and ain't got no time for softball.

Last year BTBICP won the following tournaments:

Elmer Ray Butler Memorial Tournament
Emma Lita Butler Memorial Tournament
Rosco Perdle Butler Memorial Tournament
(That is one hard luck family.. but that is another story)

International Harvester Swap Day Tournament
Muskrat Festival Tournament (Barbie McNutley won Miss Muskrat for the 3rd year in a row)
and last, but not least!
The BTBICP Invitational - they came as far away as Chigger Hollow, Saltville and Chilhowie to play in this one.

Yep, that's about it. They should be honed to a fine point and are ready for 2007! (I am betting that Barbie McNutley wins Miss Muskrat again - she sure is a purty thing - I just wished she played softball though.

I'm sure the Nightmare will be a strong team when the freshman come back, but will 3 players really make a difference? Come on, they lost to the Slammers 4-2, the ICE wiped them out with the Nightmares best pitcher on the mound and getting pulled, so no excuses. From what I see, they can't field a lick and were held to 2 runs by a 12u team!

Let's rank the Laser Green as the best, and everyone else can play for 2nd, and maybe the Slammers as 1b.

yea the Nightmare didn't have their number 1 pitcher on the mound while facing the ICE the number 3 pitcher was pitching and then there number 2 pitcher came into the game, the number 1 pitcher hasn't been playing for the Nightmare all Spring because she is starting at the Varsity level right now. And the feilding wow the Nightmare had 1 bad weekend every team will have a bad weekend.

Hmm...Slammers 1B? Didn't they beat the mighty Lasers....AS A 12U TEAM!!! Every team can have an off game, before you talk trash look in the mirror. I've never seen the Nightmare play but I have seen the Slammers and losing to them 4-2 is nothing to be ashamed about. Abby F. would be a #1 on just about any 14U team, including probably yours, whoever it is.

I believe you go to your state tourney, whether it is ASA, NSA, etc. You win the tourney you are best in the state. Opinions are like other things, everybody has one. Show up at your state tourneys and make a case to be #1. Until then it is all an assumption. I dont see why everyone wants to hear that they are the greatest every year. Just win the State and you can make claim. Good luck to all softball teams on a successful season and see you all at the tourneys.

I also saw BTBICP play last year, I was told all 12 kids have already signed D-1. Yes Barbie McNutley is the odds on favorite to repeat. Can anybody verify that Sally McCoy the BTBICP #2 pitcher who last I saw was hitting 65 ish on the gun with all 8 pitches, and 55 with her CU, is only 8 years old?

That was there number one, she is good but the ICE mad her look bad - and it wouldn't matter, you have to be good all around, and that would be the same fielders out there not making plays. Are you now going to say that they threw their 8th pitcher against the Slammers? When you play, whoever is out there playing is number one at the time. No more excuses, they were beat bad twice and should never be mentioned again until they do something.
The Lasers Green didn't play in the tournament, it was the Orange. The Orange have a good team, but the Green is hands down the better of the two.
