I have a few great memories. All from a great year with Doom 95'

Watching Kayla Koch homer 5 times (to all 3 fields) in 4 games at the Stingrays tourney. The last one cleared the scoreboard in LF. She also hit several doub's to the fence and hit a line drive so hard past a very solid SS that the ball was actually 20-30 feet past her when she raised her glove . The ball passed about a foot above head. Watching her tie for the lead in the home run contest at the 18u Indianapolis firecracker amongst 50-60 older players was pretty cool also.

Watching Emily Anderson mowem' down at ASA/USA nationals. She was unreal in leading us from the losers bracket to a Top Twenty finish.

Watching Casie Hutchinson hit. No particular AB. Just the way she approaches every AB. A pro in a young girls game

Most surreal moment was watching coach's from Tennessee , UCLA, Oklahoma etc gather behind our backstop after midnight to watch 14u's play.

It was a great year in softball for me and the dd. MD

The Bash tournament down in Tennessee in April where the 14u dd threw 2 no-hitters back to back against Smyth County Sliders from Virginia and Lady Venom from Knoxville Tennessee while striking out 24. Both games were 2-0.
Ended up giving up 3 hits total in the other two games against Blue Blaze from Kingsport TN and Smyth County Sliders (2nd game).
One of those weekends where she was just in that famous 'zone'.

Watching my youngest daughter play her 1st season of travel ball (10u) and watch her improve thru the year. She started 2 years early (you could tell by her size). She threw out a runner from right field in a tournament in Michigan. Then when she got her first line drive hit up in Toledo (4th tournament) and to see the smile on her face was truely priceless!!!!!!

Another would be the several months I had working with the 3 pitchers I had with the Lady Irish this past season while being an asst for them. Truely was a pleasure to work with them and coach them. They made my job easy!

Hall of Fame tournament when dd went yard to left field with Oklahoma State in attendance.
ASA/USA Nat's where I got to hang out and dd practiced with Doom 95.
All of the ASA/USA tournament, dd played a great SS and got some pretty nice compliments!
While showcasing this Winter, having College Coach's show interest.

Watching my DD win both games of a doubleheader to break her college's record for wins in a season.

Hearing the DD has been named a captain for the upcoming season.

Coaching - scoring 6 runs in the first 2 innings against an outstanding Tigerlillies team and hanging on to beat them 6-5 in elimination play after they had destroyed us in games in 2 earlier tournaments.

Elimination day ASA Eastern's, youngest dd pitched her heart out. After being pulled the first game after the 2nd or 3rd inning and our first loss in double elimnation comes back for mop up duty, with us down 8-1 after 1 1/3. She pitched 5 more innings and we came back to win 14-8. Then she starts game three and finally runs out of juice in the 7th inning, we lost 6-4. I come up to give her a big hug, and she starts balling (which I never approve of). I ask why, she states, I was pulled.

My oldest team, facing a possible perfect game against them. Oldest pops a bloop slap over 3rd basemen's head for a single. Steals 2nd and 3rd, score on wild pitch.

Watching our catcher blast a home run.

Watching our 10U Ohio Power team come together and they had some chemistry. DD and I still chat with several members.

My daughters second year at 10U travel last year. She was 9.

I'll never forget her first pitch as a pitcher. Indoor league, January with our new team. The very first game, first batter and she is throwing the first pitch. I gotta say, it was VERY dusty in that place. She trows her first pitch, she hit the batter..hard too. Her first pitch was HBP. We'll never forget it. My wife missed the camera shot, thank goodness.

Happy new year everyone. Thanks for making me feel at home here at OFC. I have learned a lot to say the least.

Watching my dd get a complete game win against the 14U Valley Extreme in the semi's at the Parma Shootout with an ump that refused to call an outside corner strike. Pretty nerve racking knowing she was going to have to work the center of the plate in for 7 full innings against a team of mashers. Rise, curve, change and alot of guts got it done.:yahoo:

Wow, these replys so far have be awesome. For me and I'm sure for many of us there are just so many we could list.......for me, I would say my daughter signing her letter of intent to play college ball would be the top choice..... a close 2nd would be her 18u summer team winning compuware.

For us was DD returning to her roots where her travel ball started........rejoining the Sting, Signing her NLI with OVU, and truly loving the game........the one highlight is at BOB in the fall at Massillon......time limit is up but had to finish the at bat......runner at 3rd the tying run DD is the go ahead run.....all the opposing team had to do was walk her and game over.....they threw 3 straight balls...she swings at the next 2 pitches completely out of the strike zone, the last pitch they make a mistake pitch and she hits a 2 run walk off........couldn't slap the smile off her face...Priceless for sure!

I goof around on here alot and tend to not to take to much seriously. But Of all the great memories I have the one that sticks out in my mind would have to be watching my dd overcome a personal battle with a disease, go thru 4 surgeries in a span of 13 months , and still manage to keep her school work and athletics at a point where she signed her NLI this fall. Theres no way to put into words the pride I take in her not only as an athlete but as a young woman that has never stopped fighting for what she wanted........ She has taught me as much about life as I could have ever hoped to teach her about softball.

I got to see a group of 12 year olds fight back from 2-8 in the 4th and win 10-8 after 6 1/2 innings at eastern nationals. They never gave up or broke ranks. They fought for every run and showed why the game needs to go 7 innings.

Mine so far was 2 summers ago when DD was playing 12u. She hit her first ever over the fence homer on Mother's Day. When she was done running the bases, and celebrating with her team, she ran around the back of the dugout and yelled "HEY MOM!!! THERE'S YOUR MOTHER'S DAY PRESENT"!!! Just what I wanted. There are many more memories with her and other players, but this is my favorite. I still beam with pride when I think about it, and so does she. :)

Oops. sorry, guess it says Best of 2010. My bad.

In a 14U tourney last summer, our community travel team went up against a very strong Lady Irish team. With my DD in the circle, we shut them out for 5 innings and led 1-0 before giving up 2 unearned runs in the sixth and having the game ended due to time running out.

The game was under the lights with VERY passionate fans on both sides cheering on their girls. What an atmosphere for our young ladies to experience. Despite the loss, it gave our kids, especially my daughter, the confidence that we could compete with the better teams.

Being a senior in college now and at the end of her softball career, my DD was a asst coach for me this summer and we were able to relive the out on the road, song on the radio quizes, snack stops, and comradery of the DD/dad rides to tournaments like we used to take.

Enjoy those rides Dads, they grow up eventually.

Best Memories for me will be last season, coaching Chain Reaction. The last tournament of the season @ The All Sanctioned Mid-West WS in Columbus. After a rain delay, games finaly started @ 3:00. We played 5 games back to back etc: NO BREAK! We won it all! But it was the last game that I was ever gonna coach my DD (Catcher) and her bestfriend (pitcher) who I have coached since they were 5. It was bittersweet, to end like that was the best day of my coaching career.
