Summer 2007 Tournament Rules ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Revised 6/11/2007
All teams must be sanctioned by the ASA.. ?All teams must check in at the welcome table a minimum of 45 minutes prior to the start of their first game. ?We must stay on schedule. ?Any team that cannot maintain their schedule will forfeit the game in question.
Due to scheduling restraints, we cannot complete seedings until the end of all preliminary play. ?It may be necessary for your team to be ready to play the 1st seeded game following preliminary play. ?It is the responsibility of each coach to check their schedule & potentially have his/her team ready to play.
Preliminary tournament play consists of 3 randomly-selected preliminary play games. ?All teams will be seeded in single elimination bracket play. ?Home team will be determined by a coin toss at the start of each game. ?Home team book is official. ?In the event of a team canceling at the last minute due to weather, or any other reason, we will match up play for the preliminary rounds as best we can. ?You will still play a minimum of 4 games, weather permitting. ?Teams will be seeded based on the following criteria:
Win/loss record
Head to head ?
Least # of runs allowed
Coin toss
Two umpires will be assigned to each game. ?Playing rules will be those prescribed in the official 2007 ASA Softball Rulebook with the following modifications:
All games will be a maximum of 7 innings if they are under the time limit. ?No new inning will begin after 1 hour & 20 minutes of play. ?If a game is tied at the end of either, the Tie Breaker Rule, as described in the Official ASA Rule Book will be implemented at the beginning of the very next inning. ?(runner placed at 2nd base; no outs) The championship game will have no TIME LIMIT. ?You can use courtesy runners for your pitcher & catcher. ?If you have someone not in your line-up, use this player. ?If you don?t have a sub, the player that made the last out will be used, unless it was the pitcher or catcher.
Players may only be on one roster per tournament.
Mercy rule for all games will be as described in the asa rule book.
The tournament director & umpire will handle protests immediately during the game in question. ?All decisions will be considered final.
A schedule of games, changes, games results and bracket play assignments will be posted and maintained by the tournament director. ?It is the duty of each coach to verify all game times, results and assignments. ?Please check these postings as necessary.
Team Trophies will be awarded to first place and runner-up teams. ?Individual trophies will also be awarded to first place and runner-up team members. (up to 12 per team)
