I have 2 children in 10U softball. One is 8, the other is 10. We have made all games, and missed only 2 practices for fall ball. My 10 year old was being trained for 2nd base, and my 8 year old is outfield. We get to our first game and they put a girl who had never been to a practice, or played with us, on 2nd and didn't tell my child she had been replaced. She just had to deal with it. My 8 year old went to bat and she got confused on 1st base and got tagged. Because she got confused and got out they benched her. She never played on the field, she also over heard her coach talking shi* and cursing about her to someone else. So not only was my 10 year old upset and disappointed, but my 8 year old had her feelings hurt badly and didn't get to play, she said it felt like her heart was breaking. My 8 year old decided she didn't want to play anymore. They asked if my 10 year old was still going to play and I said it's up to her. After the game, my 10 year old said she did still want to play, but we had to leave due to my 1 year old being sick, so they didn't play the second game they had lined up, we weren't the only ones who had to leave, but they aren't responding to my message letting then know that my 10 year old is still playing. I feel like every child should get the chance to play and every child should be treated fairly. My kids were not treated fairly. And I feel if you don't show up to practice you shouldn't get to take someone else's spot. So am I wrong?

Actually yes, the man that this coach was talking to was helping coach and it is his daughter. We've been with this team since last year and they were on a whole different team.

You have every right to be upset whether it's rec ball or TB. That said, which is it?

To be brutally honest, it doesn't sound like they want you with their team. I'd focus on getting any of your money back, cut your losses, and move on. You can give them an earful after you get your money although with guys like this it seldom has much affect. Just chalk this one up and let's hope the next stop is a better one. Good luck.

8, 10 and most of 12u. it's all about developing, learning and reps for all players. Can't learn if not getting into the games. And shame on any coach at that level for taking players on roster, "just in case".

get funds back in possible, and run, run fast, run far. And don't be afraid to call out this type of coach. Others need to know.

Sounds like you got scammed. Happens way too much when teams take siblings to get head count. Hopefully you find an organization where you can enjoy the sport.

My 8 year old has a new team but we can't find any 10U coaches now.
