Car odor

The discussion of the stinky batting gloves had me thinking.

Our Flex is already getting to mid-season smell. And I am sick of that stink already. Any proven car de-oderizers that will help. Short of getting a trailer to put the bag in I have not been able to defeat the smell.

All Winter the car smelled nice. No issues. Buy this morning I went into my wifes car to get something and had to fight through the smog. It does not help that I have 3 girls playing now........it is like a stink factory.

One thing that does help is that we have the girls change right in the laundry room so no foul smell makes it into the house. But the shoes/batting gloves/ and bat bag have an odor that is getting worse with the girls ages. And they are playing just about every day.....maybe I should make them remove the bags every night. That might help. But they tend to just leave them in the cars because of the need to have them the next day.

Febreeze and Neutra Air. That's about the best I can come up with. Maybe throw some "pine trees" in each bag...lol.

Bounce Dryer Sheets under the seats. Car dealers do that for stinky used cars.

1- Newspaper crinkled real nice
2- Some Bounce wrapped in the center of #1
3- Some Liquid goof off sprayed on #2 for the lemony smell.
4- Some xylene to soak the whole concoction
5- One Self igniting match.....

You Can't beat the smell, it never goes away!!!!!!!!!

Another good use for them is to wipe your exposed skin with them and it keeps the mosquitoes away. I know it sounds weird, but we have a LOT of mosquitoes at our field in the summer. I was wary at first, but now we don't go to the field without them.

We have started carrying zip-lock freezer bags that the socks and batting gloves go in whenever they will be in the car. And most importantly, take them out of the car as soon as you get where you are going.

See my comments on the batting glove thread - it will apply here.

Further to using Febreze Fabric Refresh, you can also use the Febreze Air Affects as it also has chemistry which block the "stink" so your olfactive receptors can not detect it - plus the scents are pretty nice if I must say so myself!!!

The biggest issue that I am hoping to correct this year is the sock under the seat. Nothing like cleaning the car out and it still reeks. And then searching for the offending item. The first time I thought my car was permanately damaged. But now I know a sock or cleat is still in the car. Even the sliders get stinky.......pretty much anything they touch during the games get s funk.

I like the baggy idea. We need to instill some organization.

My "new" car smells already and I wouldn't trade it for the world!!!!! One day that smell will be gone forever and I will miss it dearly.... We all try to cover it up, but I know we all love it just as well. That smell is our DD's love of the game, her sweat of perseverance, her tears of victory (and defeat), and her superstitious tradition of not washing her socks during a tourney! God love it and the let's get this season under way!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
