N.C. Hoover 5
Hudson ?0
Ten innings of intense softball. ?Finally wore down the Hudson starter in the tenth. ?Both teams had chances, but some clutch pitching denied scoring until Hoover broke it open in the top of the tenth.
Wow, to go into the 10th inning scoreless with the #1 team in the state in a reloading year, in a game between the last 2 consecutive D1 State Champs ....
Hudson had several golden opportunities to get the potential winning run in from 3rd with less than 2 outs, in the late innings. But Simpson and the Vikings rose to the occasion every time. Hoover had chances also. Whoever lost this game was destined to look back with some "what ifs" ... Too bad either team had to lose, lots of great pitching and clutch plays on some hard hit balls, both ways. Great year Explorers, will miss the seniors, but a lot of starters coming back next year!
Good luck to Hoover - finish this out strong and keep it in NE Ohio. Would be interesting to see Elyria get another shot, after finishing 2nd the past 2 years to Hoover & Hudson.
