Scores from Regional games today?

I just read where Northmont lost 4-3 to Mason today? Very surprised by that score. I thought Northmont looked good enough to make it to State! Anyone know what happened? Too bad for them. Their pitcher is a great kid, with a lot of talent. I'm sure Coach Mangen will miss her. How many seniors on that team?

Also N. Canton Hoover lost today. A lot of us thought they'd win it all. I guess that's why you play 'em!

Anyone know the score of the Greenville/Ross game?

Regarding what happened in the Mason/Northmont game:

Northmont gave up 7 hits and committed 3 errors (one allowing a run to score).
Mason pitcher did a great job (13 K's, but gave up a solo Homerun)
Mason made a lot of contact. Mason was behind 3-2 and came back for the win.

Helicopter...thanks for the update. Sounds like Mason played well then. Good luck to them in Ashland! I didn't get to see them play this year.

Northmont may have just given up an opportunity at their only Regional Championship. I don't think they have much coming up in the circle...at least nothing as good as what they just graduated. Coach has a mighty task for next season.

Good Luck to Mason and Coach Castner

Greenville 3
Ross 1

Greenville plated 2 in the 1st inning off of Smith and actually had the bases loaded with nobody out after Smith hit Shell with a pitch to load em up. Jr catcher K. Blumenstock promptly spanked one to the fence to socre the first two runs of the game.

Then in the 5th inning with two outs Greenville's stellar SS L. Brinley ripped a double to left and then Shell came up and drilled one to the fence for back to back 2 out doubles and at the time a 3-0 lead.

That would be all that Shell needed as she kept the Ross batters off balance all day. There was really only two balls hit hard off of Shell all day, a lead off single to start the game and a well hit ball by Smith in the same inning that the Greenville center fielder made a diving catch on. It was the defensive play of the game.

Greenville put the ball in play all day as Smith K'd 6 (I think that right). If she threw it over the plate at all it was hit hard somewhere. That was a big dfference from the game these two teams played last year.

I have never seen this team more focused. Ross played very well, but Greenville was the better team today.

Congrats to the Mason team. I have watch them play several times including the game against Fairfield. They have great chemistry on that team. They were down 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh and came back to win. I wish them luck at State and hope them come home with a State Championship. Coach Castner you have done a great job with these girls.
