just another opinion... keep your commitments this year butbefore you commit next year go to some of the upper level program tryouts and see what happens. I have found that girls make friends that can last forever every where, that travel ballis fun but winning at travel ball is MORE fun, that HS teams benifit more from kids playing at the best level they can play than playing with their school teams year round, that scholarships are out there for the player who does the right things at the right time with the right organization.

Blue, Get in touch. We'll have a tourney or two in Goshen early and get them some travel monies. I got a list of free tournaments they can go to in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky as well as Columbus, IN tournament. I've been working on my supplier to give a discount for uniforms for the girls.

I said I would be there for you if you went this direction and I meant it. The guys in Goshen (you talked to them when you was there with your team), said come on. Fields are free of charge to help you raise money for the girls.

I agree, there a some benefits with playing Travel Ball and it
can help develop H.S. team. But what good is a H.S. Team with
only 1 or 2, 3 Travel Ball players on board, when the rest of the
H.S. Team are a Bunch of FLOPS!

The reason for starting the little Travel Team was to give all the
Team members (not just my DD's) an opportunity to experience
what it's like to play against more competitive Teams. Seems to me
that this would also be a great benefit to a H.S. Team, to have alot of
players with travel experience, and not just a Chosen Few!
It doesn't matter if the H.S. team has very Best of Pitcher's, or Fielder
it won't do the team a bit of good if the rest of the team does not
have the knowledge to help her out. 1 or 2 players can't win a Game
by themselves.

I think that we as adults try to play the game through our children,
and I also think we place false hopes in their minds. That if they don't
play up to a certain standard, that they will never have any hopes
of playing for some NCAA D-1 University. How many girls from Ohio or
your Community today play for let's say for UCLA, Texas A&M,
Virginia Tech, SoCal, are there 25, 50, 75, 100?
And by 2013, the year when the majority of the girls I coach will Gradute.
How many girls from Ohio or your Community then will be playing for
some D-1 University? Will there be 100, 200, 300 a 1000. Not likely!

There is nothing in the world a wrong with reaching for the Stars,
But what happens when your ladder is to short?

Our Team Motto is: We Win Together, and We Lose Together!
Let's all just them them play Softball while they are still young, because
the Ballfields that they play on Today, will be gone for them Tomorrow!

"Reaching for the Stars is one thing, But catching one is a Miracle!"

Wow...This has really turned up alot of chatter.Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.
Move up and improve DD skills or Stay down and work on the Softball community???Hmmm.Pretty Simple, take care of yours first.Sure it seems like your leaving a hole in something you started but who in there right mind would condemn a man for doing what is right for his own first??Seen this too many times.Missed opportunity??How many times must it knock??How many times will it knock??
You have to opportunity to let DD excell with a i'm guessing a formidable team especially since your questioning your judgement by posting it on here,to be 2nd string??
Could of ,Should of,Would of..all parts of a prepositional phrase. Now if the others had the same opportunity would they stay back to accomidate your DD?

To many Questions not being answered from the Team that is inquiring
about my DD. Apparently 2 members of their Travel Team has already quit.
Why I ask?

Why has this Team the waited this long to get in touch with us,
and not last Fall like they did with the rest of the team?

Is it because they lost 2 members??
They already knew who we are, I spoke with the coach,
when our DD's were playing Jr. High Volley Ball against each other
while at their High School.

Sorry! To many unanswered questions for my liking's!
I should have put these in the earlier post, maybe this will help everyone understand our decision to stay.

Sure, I can take her and move on, there's not a doubt in my mind.
Then where do we go to from there say in 1 or 2 years?

What missed Opportunities?

Is there an "Iron Clan Guarantee" out there that I'm not seeing,
that she will play at the Collegiate level?

What future $Pay-Check$ will she be recieving from Softball?

There's nothing wrong with a man helping your own first.
But what's wrong with helping ones neighbors and friends?

As for the other members of the Team, they have had opportunities
to move on, Their still here after coaching the majority of them for
8 yrs. the only ones that left was either do to their age and had to
move up, or lost interest in Softball.

There is no iron clad guarantee that your daughter will play in college if she plays travel ball. I will say that playing sports at a higher level will help your daughter in life however. It teaches them confidence, overcoming fear, not being afraid to take chances, and working hard has its rewards. Take a good look at your situation. Do whatever you feel you need to do and do not look back.

Just might...lol.. Just might to p**s him off....lol....

well thats very grown up of you. :(
btw, just for your information I am not a him. Not sure why you get so testy whenever someone askes you a simple question. You never seem to be at a loss for words for anything else but when someone askes you a legit question all the sudden you go into attack mode. Wonder what will happen when the temperature goes up outside in the summer and the pressure gets turned up a little. Will you just be working hard to p**s someone off then?

Ed: Personally, I have a lot of friends in this game. You got upset because I am willing to send a 14u team who has supported me in this adventure... with MY money. Who are you to decide anything about me...lol...and what I might want to do with a team and coach that I like very well. It's not IFA National money.. it is not IFA Ohio money... it is my money... to do with whatever I wish to do.

Now get over it and move on.

I didn't mean to upset the Apple Cart with this Post! I was just looking for an Honest Opinion. If it was your DD, and you were one of the coaches that helped start a Travel Team. Would you pack up and leave with your DD for another team for what looks like to be Green Grasses, or would you stay behind to help cultivate the rest of the field (Team) to help them all grow Together?

That's all I was asking, Nothing more, and Nothing Less!

And I appreciate Quakerman! I consider him a Friend., I know you like to Hammer on him, but sometimes people actually have something worth saying if only given a chance and we listen.
