Northern Lakes League Predictions

OK...definitely ready for softball to begin (worst part of winter..no softball games to watch!)..so the next best thing is to discuss it.

NLL...I predict the team to beat will be Perrysburg...strong pitching (not sure much back up depth here--but others may know better than I) and strong hitting throughout the line up.

Southview will be a very close second, and Pburg will need their "A" game to beat them. Strong pitching w/ player depth (3 in O'Reilly, Esterich, & Howard), and solid hitting.

After that, a big drop off in consistant winning potential. Hearing BGHS may be losing some key talent to L*******...but not verified.

Not sure the remaining teams have the pitching needed to shut teams out...any insight regarding this???

P'burg and Southview will be very good, but don't count out AW. They bring back the majority of their team and have Kurfis on the mound. They will be very good. Springfield will be there as well. They lost Michalak and that is a tough one to replace. The have freshman Bri Buck taking the hill although she might not have the speed of a Michalak, she has good movement and she is working hard over the fall and winter. Gwozdz will have his team ready, you can't count them out. I think a team that will make some noise this year is Maumee. Jim Hall has done a great job on building that program and we are about to see it pay off. He has an outstanding freshman class coming in. They might not take the NLL this year, but watch out for them the next three years.

IF Kurfis returns, watch out...she did great this summer...I had heard that she wasn't going to play this spring...it will definitely make a huge difference in how AW will play out.

Pssst Kurf will play, But, I think its Perrysburg/Southview and everybody else. Rich and Double OO are going to dominate. Keep an eye on Northview, Coach Kyle in year 2, I'm thinking they are just going to keep getting better.

We hope that we'll just get better and better. We have a lot of confidence with Kyle. The Freshman class has a number of travel players coming in from 2010 orgs - Fusion, Sharks, Heart of Ohio Rush, Irish to name a few.

You should have a lot of confidence in Kyle! Lol....he's an excellent teacher, very good RVP hitting coach and IMO, the coaches in the big conferences are getting lots of travel players who are RVP hitters and the high school coaches that embrace that and understand the linear and rotational aspects of the swing are going to have the most sucess.

I'll have to ask dd on the upper classmen. I am not sure yet or how Steve Kyle plans to set up the teams Varsity/JV. I only know the Freshman pitchers.

Madison Garrow - 2010 Sharks Snyder
Brianna Quinones - 2010 Fusion Haynam
Brooke Bryan - 2010 Fusion Bryan

Other Freshmen coming on:
C/OF Madison Rutter - 2010 Sharks Snyder
SS Lori Myer - 2010 Sharks Gillespie
2nd/SS/OF Cassidy Ghesquiere - 2010 Heart of Ohio Rush
C//OF Marisa Winner - 2010 Fusion Bryan
Ashley Cole - 2010 Sharks Snyder
Maddie Roop - 2010 Fusion Bryan
Gracen Spangler - 2010 Fusion Bryan
Shelby Faunt - 2010 Fusion Bryan
I am sure that I am missing a few others.

Fusion is sponsered by Sylvania Recreation and Kyle's feeder program. It should become stronger and stronger as he builds the organization. The program should be very beneficial to both Sylvania Northview and Southview.

Quick update, had the chance to play with Bre Buck this past weekend in the Genesse Fieldhouse Dome in Grand Blanc, MI. She was fantastic and dominated. She has developed and rise ball and it was very effective. She will keep Springfield right there with the rest of them. Just my prediction, she will be the best pitcher in the area in 2012 with the exception of Erin Seiler (Central Catholic). She will need her freshman year to grow, but watch out after that! She has a good stick as well.

As for Kurfis, she is playing and has been working with a pitching coach weekly.

Besides all the normal Perrysburg pitchers, they have a very strong upcoming Sophomore in Katie Zampino (formerly 2010 Heart of Ohio Rush, 2011 Central Ohio Turbos).

I'm thinking Cassidy Gillispie will be in the best pitcher in NWO mix by 2012 lol, I feel when she gets to play with big strong high school kids, allowing her to unleash her athletism she will be the best pitcher in NWO. Her and Inman are going to form a Holmes/Frank combo! Good luck to lil Heat she will get to face her every year in high school, but I'm sure she will be up to the challenge!

Cassie Gillespie is definately a talented young lady as well as Jenna Inman. I remember dd playing against Cassie in coach pitch rec :) I am sure that she will grow with the older competition.

Perrysburg has a another very good pitcher name Felicia Isenbrant. I have seen her pitch several times and she has had a lot of success. She has had impressive stats on JV the last couple of years. I think each season she has had over 200 ks. I saw her hit one out of the yard against the bg pitcher who I think will be there starter this year over the center field fence which I think is over 225 yrds. I also saw her pitch a great game against Owens this past fall. Her team lost by one in the bottom of the 7th on a misplayed ball off the ss glove. If she is on varsity this year with Rich Perrysburg will definitely be a contender for the top spot.

1. Southview (beat Perrysburg twice last year)
2. Perrysburg
3. Anthony Wayne (w/ Kurfis)
4. Springfield
5. Maumee
6. Northview
7. Rossford
8. BG

This is obvioulsy my unscientific opinion. I mean no offense to anyone, just my thoughts on how the NLL might play out. I agree that Maumee is a "wild card" and could be in the "upper four" at the end of the season.

I have to agree with you, I think Southview/Perrysburg is a "pick 'em", I like both teams, both coaches, both #1's lol and cant argue with either being somebodies #1 team. AW/Springfield, not sure how its going to shake out for them, lost a lot of good seniors from both teams. The bottom 4 teams as of now dont have the pitching to match up with Kurf, Double O and Rich, the move back to 43' is not going to effect those 3 at all, they all play on showcase teams and have all pitched quite a bit from 43' and have already made the adjustments. All 3 throw hard, especially Rich and have good ball movement. Springfield has to replace their 4 year varsity starter ACE, but have some good young RVP hitting athletes and might be my sleeper team this year, if you can call them that.
