Ok rookies, listen up...........

When we talk about our age groups in fastpitch, it is the age first, followed by the "U", ie, 14U (14 years and Under)(NOT U14). ASA, USSASA, NSA and PGF are the same.

I know that this just drove JoeA crazy and it is starting on me now. Just because s o c c e r screwed it up, doesn't mean that fastpitch has to.

Thank you. I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

Disclaimer: Yes, this thread is humor. With travel starting to gear back up after the long winter, I sense a lot of tension in some of the postings so it is time to lighten it up a little. And the HS parents also need some relief.

It is like using the < symbol when it should be >. It has totally different meanings. Putting the U first means Under (insert age). Putting the U second it means (Insert Age) and Under.

... And please know the difference between a tagging situation and a force out before yelling at the ump.

My personal favorite, "but they are only a 9U team (or 11U, etc) and they had to play 10U teams!" Hmm...nope the increments run in 2 years so its 10U, 12U, 14U, etc!!

I was coaching a Pee Wee game a few years back...close game, last inning. The teenaged umpire, wearing Umbro shorts, turned to me and asked if our league had "overtime."

After a long pause...crickets chirping..., I replied, "no."

No matter what team you're coaching, there's always at least 1 Mom that will strongly remind you that you're not allowed to bunt with 2 strikes in softball.

Lol. I hope they are on a team we are playing. They would never expect it.

Yep, that still does drive me crazy. And just like joboo1drew said, U10 has a different meaning than 10U.

here's one.... just because the catcher "catches" the ball on a one hop 3rd strike.... does not mean it is a "caught ball".... its a dropped 3rd strike so you better run and finish the play! SO... don't yell "she caught it!! batters out!!" if it hits the ground 1st it is NOT a caught ball. lol

Man I could just tee off on this post with all kinds of commentary. I know what you mean. I'm not going to hijack this with an ad for my facility because I think just about everyone knows I am one of the owners of Field of Dreams.
Thing is...we cater to baseball as well as softball. They use U10, U12, etc. We say 12U. It's comical. Those people on here saying U10 are showing their DD either plays s****r or has a brother playing baseball.
Get it right

AND..there is no BALK. Stop asking the ump to call it!

1) She checked her swing! 2) Foul tip into the catchers mitt for strike three. But she fouled it off! 3) Drop third strike with first base occupied, runner advances to second. She needs to go back because first base was occupied! 4) Infield fly rule, ball drops, runners advanced. But the runners need to go back, you called infield fly! 5) and the best, every pitcher they face is crow hopping!

"The pitcher's foot was off the rubber before release." Just love that one every game.

How about the rarely seen pitcher that does not have a windmill release? Everyone is screaming illegal until the umpire reassures everyone it is legal.
