JS4 ... had the runner been thrown out at 3B, it would be an FC ... but the situation you described is clearly a hit.

Not so sure on runner being out at third is a no hit. If not a force out at three, I still go with a hit. hers one...My DD on first.... batter hits long ball to left. DD feeling very fast that day with the play in front of her decides try first to home...gets thrown out by a couple furlongs, that is definately a hit.

Purple ... if a base runner is thrown out advancing to the next base from where they started, it is a fielder's choice ... if a runner is thrown out more than one base ahead, then it is a hit.

There is nothing that says that it's a fielder's choice only if they could have thrown out the hitter. For example, runners on 1B and 2B, ball hit deep in the hole. SS makes a great play and throws to 3B to get the runner. That is a fielders choice even if there is no way she could have got the batter at 1B. Tough break for the hitter, but that's the scoring rules.

Unless it is a hit to the outfield. See rule 4 page 16. Example is the IU -Purdue game. Hit to CF and she throws out the runner, because the runner has to hold up to see if she can catch it. Key word is OF. Batter gets a hit, not a FC. My dd got robbed of a hit, because as a lefty slapper she hit it to LF and they threw out the lead runner at Third as a force.

SBFamily ... so you're saying it's a hit if it's not a force?

As for slapping, its a little risky in my mind when runners are on 1B and 2B for that very reason ... and usually outfielders are shaded in anyhow with a true slapper.

I'm at the point were looking at stats from a lot of teams means nothing. In the GGCL I see teams like Mercy, MND, Badin, CJ and others doing it the right way- by the book. Others are ridiculously pumping their stats and I expect the when voting time comes the coaches doing it right will take that into consideration.
Saw a girl hit a great shot last night that was a solid triple. The CF overthrew the SS when the hitter was between 2nd and 3rd, she scores. This was a no brainer I thought only to find out later they scored it a homerun. Chasing records is meaningless of you're scoring like t-ball.
Has a better one though. Last year saw a ball hit through the SS legs and bounce off the CF and the runner circled the bases. The Belmont scored it an error of course, my GGCL brethren scored it a homerun.

The ATEC rule is the same as NCAA's Credit a Hit (14.3.6) and they are both contradicted by rules saying to not credit a hit when a runner is forced out.

NCAA 14.4.5 When a runner is forced out on a batted ball or would have been forced out except for a fielding error.

ATEC Do not credit a hit...
2. when a batter hits safely and a preceeding runner misses the first base she was advancing to, and is called out by appeal, (this is an appealed force out and batter is on by a fielder's choice).

What is the earned run ruling on this play?
Runners on 1st and 2nd with one out(they got there on hits) and ball hit to infielder who starts to throw to 3rd and then throws to first late. I believe that is a fielder's choice in itself. The next batter strikes out for the second out. The next batter singles to out field scoring two runs. Are those two runs earned?

The runs are earned - they weren't aided by error or PB.

2. Earned runs are determined by reconstructing the inning as it would have been played without errors and passed balls (including errors on the pitcher).

I'm guessing you'd like them to be unearned due to the missed opportunity for an out before the strike out...
