Someone who watched me pitch this spring wanted to know how fast i throw and said they thought I threw over 70. I said I wish! Mind you, this was a student at my school who doesn't know that if I threw over 70 I'd be out in Arizona or Tennessee being groomed as the next Jennie finch =P
Anyway, I'm sure at some point I've probably hit ~64-65 for a pitch or two, but I'm consistently at just 58-60 and still one of the faster pitchers in my d3 conference. I've also seen pitchers on the wcws that throw about 59-63 Speed is nice, but is not everything! You don't have to throw a gazillion mph to be effective! Imo, movement means so much more...Any hitter (but me) can time a 65 mph fastball...not many can hit a well placed curve, even if it's only going 56 mph...
