I need help. My dd would like to play for our high school softball team- the coach and the assistant coach would be both her select and her high school coaches. What are the guidelines if any?

I wont pretend to know all the answers and I am sure someone else on here will be of more help. ?However, I would suggest you be very careful in this situation and do as you are doing and learn the facts. ?

As I understand the High school coaching staff is allowed only 10 contact days from June 1 to July 31, which would cover the summer select travel team season. ?

Here is the website and you can check it for yourself. ?

I am sure someone smarter than me will have some better answers for you, but it may be a good idea to check the regulations yourself in this matter since it could be very important for your DD. ?

Good Luck. ? I hope this helped a little.

It all depends upon the number of players from the same team and how many coaches are doing it. If it is just those coaches working with one team only, they can have unlimited contact during that June 1, to July 31 period with 4 or less girls. If they have more than 4 girls they are restricted to 10 days. mho

Buckeye is correct:

From the OHSAA Softball Regulations
4.21) The number of interscholastic fast pitch softball players from the same school on a non-interscholastic squad is limited to four on the roster of that noninterscholastic squad. A roster is defined as all the members of the entire squad on that non-interscholastic squad.

Note: Graduating seniors who are participating on a non-interscholastic fast pitch softball squad after their final interscholastic contest of the season in the sport of fast pitch softball are exempt from this limitation.

4.22) There is no limit on the number of fast pitch softball squad members from the same school participating on the same squad during the period June 1-July 31.

4.23) A player may continue to play with a non-interscholastic squad in a national qualifying tournament in excess of the four player limitation after July 31 until the squad is eliminated but no later than Labor Day.

4.24) Non-interscholastic participation includes tryouts, training, practice and competition.

And from the Bylaws:
10-3-6 In non-interscholastic participation (contests, tryouts, training and practices) in team sports, members of the school?s interscholastic coaching staff may coach interscholastic squad members from the school district where employed for a maximum of 10 days from June 1 to July 31. The 10-day limitation applies to the entire coaching staff. Each individual coach is not entitled to 10 different days for coaching.

NOTE: The Board of Control may further limit the number of contact days during this period as specified in the specific sports regulations.

EXCEPTION 1: The paid or unpaid interscholastic coach employed by a Board of Education or other governing board may coach interscholastic squad members from the school district where the coach is employed as coach without limitation from June 1 through July 31 if the 50% limitation is observed. The 50% limitation is defined as a maximum of 50% of the members of a team as defined in the playing rules of the sport. The following chart indicates those limitations for OHSAA recognized team sports.

...

EXCEPTION 2: If the 50% limitation is observed, an interscholastic coach may continue participation with a non-interscholastic squad in a national qualifying tournament after July 31 until the squad is eliminated from the national qualifying tournament but no later than Labor Day.

Note the school district limitation vs school....
