St. Ambrose remained unbeaten in CCAC play by sweeping a doubleheader at Roosevelt Tuesday night. The Bees won the opener 11-2 in five innings before taking the nightcap 12-6 to move to 6-0 in the conference. SAU is 21-9 overall.

Christina Pembrook did it all in the opener. She allowed just one hit over 3 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the win and finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs at the plate. She laced a pair of RBI doubles, including one in the top of the first inning to get the scoring started.

That double highlighted a four-run first, which also featured an RBI single off the bat of Morgan Krieger.

Libby Munsterman drove in a run with a double in the second and Pembrook had a two-run double an inning later. In the fourth, the Bees loaded the bases as Munsterman and Jasmine Bowman walked and Makena McConnaughhay reached on an error. Colleen Barrett pushed the lead to 11-0 with a bases-clearing double to right.

Roosevelt (7-22, 1-9 CCAC) avoided the shutout by taking advantage of two St. Ambrose errors to score two unearned runs in the fifth.

Pembrook scored two runs in the Game 1 win, a number matched by Olivia McClintock. Sarah Willman allowed just two hits over the final 1 2/3 innings in relief.

After collecting 10 hits in the opener, the offense continued its explosion in the second game with 15 more hits. Five Bees had multi-hit games in the nightcap, led by Karley Kopaska's three-hit game.

Three batters in, Madelyn Thompson gave St. Ambrose a 1-0 lead with a solo home run to left. Kopaska had a two-run triple in a five-run second inning. Tara Lance, Barrett and Pembrook also had RBI hits in the frame.

But the Lakers bounced back with a five-run frame of their own, that coming in the third inning to cut the score to 6-5. Krieger and Kopaska drove in runs in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, to extend the lead, and then in the sixth, Krieger ripped a two-run single as part of a four-run inning to seal the win.

Jane Thomas picked up the win after pitching the first four innings. Pembrook earned the save with three scoreless innings in relief.

Pembrook, Thompson, Krieger and Bowman each had two hits in Game 2.

St. Ambrose next returns home to host a pair of conference doubleheaders this weekend, beginning Friday against Calumet St. Joseph. Saturday, the Bees will host Trinity International.
