No one said it was life or death...but when you have kid coaches doing this kind of thing its out of the ordinary. Only a dim wit like you comprehends that its anything other than the coaches who did this and they need to be ran through the mud. But a kid standing in front of ball with a bat on her face isn't good. For the catcher or the batter. But hey you don't coach 12 year olds so that means you probably know the game. Hell I bet you even played MLB. I'm not making any points for you.

First as the Head Coach of this team I take full responsiblity of my staff, players, and parents. I want to make it clear that we do not coach or condone the action in this video. Both coaches missed the play as we were watching the base runner, and when the oposing coach addressed the umpire, the assistant coach on third asked the batter what happened and told her that is not what we do and is not acceptable. We coach our girls on the fake bunt / steal to square around and pull back as the ball is delivered, that is clearly not what took place in the video and this has been addressed with the player and will be addressed with the entire team this week in practice. The saftey of each and every girl (on both teams) is the priority of my staff and in no way would we EVER ask or condone a player to perform what happened in the video (Sometimes 10 year olds get wrapped up in the heat of the moment and do things that are not a true reflection of their character), but I take full responsiblity ( after watching the video I should have addressed it with the umpire and I agree that the call was missed, that is on ME) of my players and this will NEVER happen again. I personally apologized to the head coach already and on behalf of my staff, players, parents, and the Stingrays organization I want to publicly apologize to the catcher (I know her personally and she is a great kid and player), the Westler Family, Coach Mike, and the parents of the opposing team. Anyone that knows me, my staff, players and parents know that we don't teach this type of action and we try to teach our players life lessons along with the game. I feel horrible that this happened and assure the softball community that this is not a true reflection of our team, or my staff but an unfortunate event in a very emotional game for 10 year olds.

Head Coach

You are a liar and I'll tell you straight out that you are.

What a dumbass, i actually have to spell it out for you? The making fun of the age doesnt have anything to do with what happened, you dimwit, it was how everything is made out to be life and death . Hang them , seriously?? Take your anonymous grudge elsewhere. Thanks for making my point.

That is Exactly The Point!

Doesn't matter what age it is. Even worse. If that girl got hit in the neck and got hurt then yea it would affect her life. What are u some big bad 16 girls coach? Pathetic that now the coaches are sweet talking one another and blaming the kids...no way in hell that girl wasn't told to do that. No way ....no damn way! And if someone has another clip of it happening again. Post it.

No I'm making fun of you Chris.

This doesn't make any sense, you ask if Hitter23 is some big bad 16U coach then you call him out by his name. Funny stuff.

Admins, I'm confused as to why this thread is still open? You closed it last night, opened it back up so both coaches could say their final peace and stated you would close it right away after they did so which happened shortly after 10:00 P.M., and now it's still open after 4:00 P.M the next day.....

I watched the video and that looks like a classic case of a young one not quite understanding how to execute the play.

Our coach tells all our players to swing and protect the runner. But they are 16U and understand you can not "stab" at the catchers mitt......LOL

Oh boy do I not miss 10U and 12U ball at times. The insane life and death actions of parents and for that matter coaches is more than I care to deal with anymore. But I do love watching the little midgets run around and have fun.

It kind of stinks now because we never play in tournaments that have 10U divisions. Would like to wander over and catch some action.

At 10u most coaches lack experience even with established programs/organizations. (This thread is a perfect example).

These are teachable moments, like what is found in the video and the account of the game are not only for the young ladies benefit but the coaches that instruct them as well.

I am sure senior members of both organizations have helped redirect both coaches as proven by the follow up post. I believe anyone that watches the video is taken back by the play of the offensive team. However; watching how the catcher handled the situation should be encouraging . The umpire seems to be clueless as the coach that has admitted about the play.

The good thing is, the video brings proof of work needed for the team and in my opinion the umpire as well since we that have been there done that know 10U do not always get the more proficient umpires.
