I live in the area and haven’t heard of a lot of those (riverbats, punishers, flames, tigers, stingers). Others seem to just be a team or two not an org with teams at every level (krush, freedom Elite, explosion, and probably the ones I’ve never heard of too.). A few I’ve heard of but are really new (power, united). Some I don’t think even exist anymore as of this year (Patriots, west side elite/thunder, static).

And they of course cover A-C level.

The ones I’d consider established, multi team orgs:
Hawks (more state-wide though I’d say), Ohio Thunder, OFC Heat, Slammers, Attack, Xpress, Doom, Ultimates, RBI, Kaos and Bandits in KY, Firestorm, Wave.

Don't forget Cincy Magic. They are one of the oldest Org's in the area. Been around since 1992 I believe.

Honestly your top teams are at the top for a reason and talent is not an issue for them since they have a product that attracts the top talent....

IMO, The problem is not that teams are watered down.

Non competitive teams are non competitive because they are not realistic about the talent they have and the events they want to play in. Some can struggle to grow the talent they have as well. It has nothing to do with being watered down.

There are 2 key positions that separates the 4 classifications of play and that is pitching and catching period. A good coach can grow the other positions for the level of play the team will be playing in.

Your top shelf programs/teams have at least 2 sometimes 3 of these high quality well sought after positions/players.
By contrast your average A team has maybe one at each position. B and C teams have none (there are more of these type of teams than the A level out there and that is not a bad thing).
There are still plenty of B/C level events around Ohio, NKY and SE Indiana for teams to play in. The teams that struggle just chose to play in the next level up and struggle or enter events that does not break out the teams properly after pool play.

The oldest organization’s in the Cincinnati area are the Ultimates and OFC Heat, I started coaching with the Ultimate’s in 2000 before starting the Cincy Doom in 2004. I do not believe the Cincy Magic was around then? I could be wrong? I believe that the Ultimate’s are Cincinnati’s oldest organization.

It would be cool if there was someone on here to give us all a history lesson. Maybe Cliff Killian can help us out...
I know Cliff was actually the first President of the Ultimates. He later started Cincy Storm & was an assistant Coach on our Thunder 007 team during their 9U year a few years back...

The Ultimate's and Killian's Strom have been around a very long time....
Don or Patty Amrine would be able to give a a detailed breakdown of organizations at least in SW and Central Ohio, SE Indiana and NKY. We are going back to the days when the Tribe and Hotshots were around.

I remember the Fastpitch Dugout in Reading they ran for several years back 20+ years ago. Patty then was the area ASA director and Donnie did a variety of work for the NCAA. He is still with the REDS RBI as a coach.

Brought back memories of Patty and the SluggerFest tournies that ran at the old Rumpke Park back in the day. They were always around the second weekend of June or so. And they brought teams from everywhere as it was one of the few ASA/USA National Qualifiers for Region Nine back then. She had teams from St. Louis, Chicago, Pittsburgh, etc. chasing that elusive ASA/USA National Berth to it seemed like Johnson City, TN or Salem, VA every season.

Incorrect, Cliff was a parent/coach 2 years of a 10U and 12U Queen City Ultimates, Don and Patty Amrein ran the first Ultimates organization. The 12U Queen City Ultimates head coach had a heart attack on the field mid season, Cliff and Tom Weirman(sorry if spelling is wrong) took over the coaching for the season.
Patty stepped down as organizer the following year and Cliff took over keeping the Ultimates going. Cliff later split off and Tom kept the Ultimates going when Cliff started "Storm"

Bob Berlew was coach of the first OFC Heat team which was 10U, his daughter Stephanie pitched. Cincy Elite was alive at that time with Don Catalfu becoming one of Ohio's top team shortly, Kentucky Cobra's (Northern KY) was a solid organization that featured Kirsten Allen going on to pitch for Oklahoma, There was a couple other Cincy organizations not coming to mind but at that time Ultimates was playing ASA, the 10U Ultimates Don Amrein coached whom my daughter pitched for went to Stockton Calf playing the ASA Nationals, first game was against Hawaii. Jim Gregory

I remember those Sluggerfest days. Spent one year there fighting storms on Friday and then played past Midnight on Saturday. So hot and humid down along the river

Ol' Bob Burlew was another class guy.

I coached the 94 10 and 12U Heat teams when he ran the organization out of Landmark church and we were part of FCA.

One year at the heating it up tournament out at Landmark we had a ton of rain. All the ladies parents and coaches busted their butt to get the fields ready until late in the evening... then we played a limited tournament but got it in...

The good old days ..Landmark had a lot back then for ladies to practice year around.
They also had softball school way before the softball IQ craze hit.

Anyone remember the Queen City Fall leagues Patty ran?
Our 12U Heat team went 6-4 in a HS division back in the day. Softball has come a long way since then...

So, i've been noticing all the teams looking for players in and around the Cincy / Dayton area. So I thought i'd compile a list. no regard to level of play or number of teams or ages.

Cincy riverbats, Cincy flames, firestorm, blue ash bombers, Montgomery Cty hammers, sluggers, diamond elite, freedom elite, Ohio Power, ohio edge, Ohio united, SW ohio Outlaws, legends, kaos, Cincy Punishers, Canes, Circleville Tigers, Bell city Ringers, Buckeye Breeze, Mojo, sting, kettering Krush, pauer F/P, road warriors, outcast, monroe stingers, New team with no name yet, slammers, magic, MV express, OFCheat, Doom, static, Hawks, Ohio Ultimates, liberty ladys, 2 out storm, west side elite, elevate, patriots, NKY explosion, oxford rebels, Ohio Wave, RBI reds....

That's 44.

Any more I missed??

Does the Hawks count as one team or twenty in your list? I couldn't resist.
