There are many possible reasons for the coach of another travel team attends your tryouts:

1. Looking to see if any of his players are there.
2. Watching how you conduct your tryout.
3. He's thinking about defecting.
4. He's trying to poach players.
5. He was bored and lived close to the fields.
6. He forgot which team he coaches.
7. He was marketing his own tryout.
8. Comparing your players to his.
....and on and on.

Did you confront him and ask? "Hey coach "so-and-so", what brings you to my tryout?"

We see this each year...I always ask. Usually a great story. I have popcorn ready each time.

And for option one...of course THAT type of coach owns the kids. Tool for sure...probably the same guy that would hold a kids release hostage when they've had enough. These guys put tryout fliers on the cars in the parking lot too.
