I am going to mention Lindsey Rich of Perrysburg, wow that kid just keeps getting better. A lot pitchers start to plateau in high school, not Lindsey. Perrysburg has her and Bryson what a great staff.

Would be interesting to reflect back on this question now that the HS season is over. A number of the pitchers mentioned here made All-Ohio but many did not and others that did weren't mentioned here. Perhaps the All-Ohio players should make up the final list and let the banter begin over who was omitted. :)

Just to bring up an interesting point, Erin Gabriel was the only player from Ohio to make the ASA Junior Women's National Team.

I'm going to go with 2 pitchers who at least need to be mentioned in the top tier of pitchers for 2010, and that would be Emma Johnson (Groveport) and Lindsey Rich (Perrysburg) who just pitched there Laser White team to a 9th place finish at USA/ASA 16U nationals in College Station, Texas. According to my research on the asasoftball.com for prior championships, was the highest any team from Ohio has ever placed at the 16U division. The previous high was 2 separate 13th place finishes by Grand Slam in 1997 and 2005. You two rocked the Longhorn state this past week and we are proud of you both! :)

Emma Johnson in my opinion was the best pitcher at the districts last year . Unflappable, moxy , cool as a cucumber ,and challanged hitters .She is the one I will be watching next year to do great things .Erin Gabriel is also the real deal!

I will have to agree that Emma Johnson and Lindsey Rich don't take a back seat to anyone. All of their talent aside, they are both great kids. Mix great kids with great talent and you've got something really special.

I couldn't go without mentioning Erin Gabriel either, I got to see her last year and wow she is the real deal also. I've also heard she is a great kid!

Gentlemen, of course these are all great pitchers however, there is not enough talk about Leanna Pittsenbarger, who just verballed to Eastern Kentucky University. She also was being recruited by Ohio State, Indiana and Purdue of the big ten. She had several full ride offers from several D-1 schools. She pitched the lady Charmers to 28 wins this summer and they played all of the the Fastpitch Showdowns, were 5 and 0 at GAPSS and were ASA "B" National Championship Runners Up(she only gave up 1 run in 8 games and it was unearned). She also guested for the Indy Magic Gold and helped them win the Sparks in Chicago. She legitimately throws between 63 and 65 with alot of movement and a devastating change up. She tied the Stingrays(k'd 12) and beat the lasers gold at Berliner. She also hit well over .400 for us. She was first team All State for Urbana High School. She has a tremendous work ethic, leadership qualities and is a class individual. Her team mates all respect her immensely. No disrespect to Jess Clutter, Bethany Campbell or Kacie Locker who are good pitchers but they just simply aren't in the same league as Leanna as I am sure most college coaches would agree as it was something to see them with their radar guns behind the backstop when she was pitching. She is the best high school pitcher in the state this year without a doubt.

I see a huge can of worms ready to explode here.........

Hey Boulders Dad! We could've used your daughters awesome bat....I think between her, Jesse Little and Ashley Skinner we would have done even more damage.lol....Just wishful thinking...

Seriously, let me say this....when you get one or two runs with Leanna pitching it is typically a done deal. We played a U23 tourney at rotary this summer that consisted of college players and we finished second. Leanna handled kids from UD, Pitt, Kent State, West Virginia and other schools with relative ease. At GAPSS we beat a pitcher, who has accepted a full ride to Kent State 10-2. She was offered by much bigger select programs this summer but chose to play with us out of loyalty. That is a huge quality right there. When she is offered by D-I programs and these other kids are playing D-II or III or NAIA that defines things. I've seen alot of pitchers here in Southwest Ohio over the years and she is the best I've seen. And no I'm not her mommie or Daddy....lol...but I am very proud of her.

Just a note of point, Lasers Gold was a 13U team this past season. They played up a lot in 16U and 18U and are tough, but certainly not a feather in the cap of a 16U or 18U team. Not that all the other accomplishments aren't impressive...

The team we played we were told was a 16U team and we were told by them they were gold. Doesn't really matter. Leanna will pitch D-I.
