Congrats to Jess-

I have watched her play since she was tiny!! She is one of my favorite players to watch! Outstanding pitching is just ONE of her skills. She is also a great fielder, a great hitter and a great baserunner! ;) She is a solid all around player. If she were on my team-- my dilemma would be should I pitch her or have her play short?! Maybe she could do both LOL.

She really has been a joy to watch-- and in addition to her softball skills-- she is a nice young lady!

Thanks for many years of softball fun Jess.
Wish you the best next year!

Keep playin hard!

It's a toss up between Mindy Merideth of Hudson and Jessica Simpson of Hoover. :)

From an outsider, I live in NWO, I did see that Paige Myers this summer. She is all that the others had said. She was the best pitcher (her or the girl from the Ind, Shockwave, cant lose with either of them lol) That we saw this year.

Emily Schwaeble of Colerain should be about the best in the southwest and based on travel is as good (not necessarily better) as anyone else in the state.

A friend of mine was in Miami this past weekend for a tournament and said he saw a very good pitcher from Ohio named Ashley Byers, Sorry if the spelling is wrong. Does anybody know what high school she attends?

I have read about her a few times on Huddle and here, sounds like she is very good.

This same post is running on the Huddle. I would have to agree with JoeA. #1 is Jessica Simpson. I have seen many of the pitchers last year, both at Wendy and East of Chicago and Traveling tournamnets . Big Train posted a few names on the Huddle that are also very good. I recall this same post last year about how good some Freshman would be coming out of travel ball. I think you need to wait and see. Most struggle the first year.

I hate talking about my own kids on here, but since so many pitchers have been mentioned (including my own), I think all three on my 18-U team deserve to be on any short list.

Ashley Byers - Westerville South H.S. (2008)
Brittany Dauterman - Bloomdale Elmwood H.S. (2008)
Delaney Childers - Johnstown H.S. (2009)

Byers and Dauterman are weighing various offers, with Byers leaning toward heading South (of which I'm envious). Childers is only a junior, but drawing plenty of interest and will be pitching for some college in 2010.

I saw Byers, Dauterman, and Childers pitch last week. I would have to agree with Joe, all three are very good. Byers is AWESOME. I have never seen so much movement. Childers, has to be one of the best fielding pitchers I have ever seen. She has cat like reflexes. My daughter was getting mad because every time she charged a ball Delaney reached out and grabbed it. :)

Three colleges are going to be very lucky to have these girls.
