I do agree with some of the pitchers mentioned but some of these pitcher pitch in div 3 I sometimes wonder how they would do in div 1, and this is not saying in any way that these are not quality pitcher.
but I do not believe that you would see half a many k's in a bigger div.

Everitt pitches for Rossford which is a Division III school in the Division I dominate leaque of the NLL. I am sure if Szpka and Dauterman came up to the NLL, they would do just as well as they do in Divison III leagues. These girls pitch against some of the best during the summer where Division I, II and III doesn't matter.

Defense and hitting may be the bigger issue unless the h.s. supports summer ball and fall ball in their districts.

I have to agree with junkie and luvthegame, good pitching is good pitching. There's about 90 per cent of D1 City League schools that aren't good enough to to beat a rec ball team. They'd love to have a quality D2 or D3 pitcher. I don't think there's a team in the NLL that Dauterman or Szipka wouldn't start for.

Not famialer with the NLL but wholeheartedly agree with Randall. A solid D II or D III pitcher will be as good or better then 90-95% of D I pitchers. Look at Widener at Ready or Gillian at Bloom Carroll in D III, they would do more then compete at D I.

Look at this years freshmen class of pitchers that are getting a chance to either start or recieve quality innings at the varsity level. All are solid to great, and Division doesn't matter!

1) Lauren McNeil-Akron Hoben D II
2) Cory Rubewright-Walsh D II
3) Mindy Merideth-Hudson D I
4) Lauren Cullier-Kings D I
5) Kayla Wryrick-Middletown D I
6) Paige Meyers-Grove City D I
7) Audry Plant-Upper Arlington D I
8) Alex Taylor-Teays Valley D II
9) Dani Steep-Marysville D I
10) Kikki -W.V. Huntington D II
11) ?? ?? - ?? ??

Left #11 and beyond blank as I know I have forgotten several qualty freshmen pitchers. :)

It's great to see this level of talent so deep in Ohio, especially some of the Freshman rising stars. Out of Bink's list I have seen Cory, and Lauren pitch and they are amazing. I have had the opportunity to be on the same side with Mindy and that is the only way I want it for years to come.

ittakesheart, Paige Meyers coach in H.S. at Grove City is Williams and her coach in travel with the Ohio Nightmare is Joe Aberzee. Don't know Audry Plant H.S. coach at Upper Arlington, but her travel coach with the C.O. Stingrays 15U is Cottrell. Someone might want to varify just in case I made a mistake.

Does anyone know if freshmen Maggie Zych (sp?) is on Upper Arlington varsity? She's a solid ballplayer and comes from agreat all around family. Hey Rudi, Go Bucks!!!...lol.

I did not say that the pitchers in other div. were good or not my comment was I dont think they would have as many strike outs in div 1, I do not see many pitchers striking out 15-17 ?batters per game in the NLL

Bink are you talking about Maggie from the Central Ohio Stingrays 14U. She is in 8th grade. Plays 2nd and short and some outfield on her travel team. Rudi is a great guy. I will have to see if I can hit him up for buckeye seats.

Hey Fastpitch11, for some reason I was thinking Maggie was a freshmen this year. If memory serves me right, I believe I had Rudi's back on a subway ride in Chicago a few years back. Maybe this is deserving of a trip to the Shoe...lol. :)

I personally love to watch Myers pitch. :) I figure if she is having this much sucess as a freshman she will certainly gain more recognition in the years to come.

Hannah Kendrick is one of the best pitchers I have seen in a long time. She's a freshman at Madison, and has been clocked throwing upper 60's. Upper 60's I mean 65-67. She's going D1 in college for sure.

I think that Stacey Eckhardt's name should be mentioned!!
She is one of the best pitchers in Cin. and is def. one of the best in Middletown. She goes to school at Madison Jr./Sr. High school. I think she could beat out anyone she comes against!! :)
def. one of the best !!!

2) Pitchers, pitching coaches, and parents all like to brag about their pitcher's "60 mph fast ball". It is a nice goal,
but obviously speed alone doesn't make a successful pitcher. Here is an unpopular statement from me, but the truth nonetheless: In most cities, considerably less than 5% (and sometimes only 1% or 2%) of all teenage pitchers consistently hit an "honest" 60 mph in games.
This is from a pitching coach on pitching speed from the West Coast. He also covers radar guns and how to use them and false readings.. I would post the whole article on average speed per age, but I think we get the point.

saved-turn that pitching machine down to 50, then to 58, then to 65, then down to 51, move inside, outside, up, down.............it is easier to time a constant speed, constant location than to hit varied speeds & locations.............before giving someone else a 5 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D , check out the validity of your post......................

Emily Massie- Mechanicsburg

Ashley Byers would have to be a front runner across the state. Don't forget about the Phillips girl at Olentangy Liberty. Seen alot of girls that are posted pitch, these two girls are the real deal. Does anyone have their stats to compare with some of the so called front runners that have been posted. Lets see some numbers people.

saved-I read your post, but I put the 65+ story right up there with 70mph on the pitching machine and hitting it hard.........Both urban legends.

Im not trying to brag about her speed. But speed is something that your gonna have to have to avoid hits. Are you trying to tell me that when a pitcher throws 45 mph she's gonna have ball movement, maybe some arc because its like slow pitch, but I forgot the people your bragging about can hit of off 70 mph batting cage. oops.
