from back in the day ...... One of our Biggest rivals was the West Carter Comets ---just for them we came up with " One Star, Two Star, Three Star a Comet , All For West Carter stand up and Vomit" Then the whole cheering section would stand in unison and fake gag themselves.

Or for our # 1 rival russell red devils ---Chanted R U S S E L L Russell Russell go to H@#$ .

Or the Ol country favorite Pork Chop , Pork Chop Greasy Greasy we beat your team EASY EASY .

I went to a large HS with a kick butt BB team --Our cheering section was near 500 students. It was pretty rowdy. MD

I watched three five girls fastpitch softball games today at a tournament. Not one chant from any of the teams at any time. Refreshing. Ballplayers. Not cheerleaders.

SOME TEAMS LIKE TO CHEER, AS LONG AS THE CHANTS ARE NOT MEAN AND THEY ARE NOT SCREAMING, I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT ;)

I think there's a difference between cheering on your team and being a cheerleader.

the coach of my team actually encourages our cheering, because it gets us pumped up. It also makes sure everybody's paying attention and keeping their eyes on what's happening on the field.

As everyone else has been saying, what's wrong with cheering as long as its not rude??

Is playedout any relation to DICE !?!?!?! ?

Notice how pro football players encourage cheering? ?It pumps them up and helps shut down the other team.

I'm for cheering, and encourage it, as long as it is positve.

14U down , almost every team cheers. ?It can get on your nerves, but as a coach with younger girls, you block it out and make sure they keep it positive. ?I do not like the loud music or other noise makers. I think that makes it tough for coaches to communicate to players on both teams . ?

I tried to count ASU cheers during the championship game. You know, THE DIV 1 COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! But I didn't have enough fingers and toes.

Cheering doesn't bother me at all. Of course I have a skill that is revered among Ms. Ringer and her friends. I have the unatural ability to tune the female voice out of my hearing range. It's taken 13 or 14 or maybe even 15...ahh...a lot years of marriage and three DD's to perfect this skill. My son is only an apprentice but he is coming along.

The only thing I don't like about cheering is that sometimes it's not LOUD ENOUGH! You know the saying... if it's too loud, you're too old!

I especially love watching the college world series every year - now THOSE girls know how to cheer! AND DANCE! It's neat how this is one of the unique differences between softball and baseball. No matter how hard some old school baseball guys try, the cheering and dancing antics of girls - from 8 yr. olds up through college and pro - is thankfully here to stay. If there's anything more boring than watching paint dry, it'a a girl's softball team silently sitting on the bench. CHEER ON GIRLS!!!

I guess we could encourage the girls to have their boyfriends come along to cheer for them like the "sugardaddies" during the college world series. :-? But I think that would be a bad idea and little tough at the younger ages.

Come on cheering is great as long as it is kept positive. If you don't like it you probably need to stop watching softball games which should be easy since you "claim" to not have child playing! BTW, I agree that would be creepy, and people are worried about someone saying shut up to a teenager (although I am sure you have a child or two or more playing, ralphie, dice, freak, etc.)

If I get his permission, I will be happy to!! ;) I'll let you know. He may want you all to keep thinking some of these other guys are him. ;D

Just to clarify here, I am not him. He is one of my boys. But you could already tell that from the way I type, versus his cro magnon typing. LOL
